Chapter 1: It’s who we are
Blair. That’s the name that was given to me at birth, and to tell you the truth, I love it. It’s unique. Just like me.
My whole life is unique actually. You see, I am a fairy, but I live in the human world. Most fairies are small and live in the fairy world, away from the curious grasps of humans. But I’m different. I’m half human, half fairy. I look, think and act like a human, but I have wings and have small fairy tendencies.
That’s why I have to choose my best friends carefully. So that’s why I’m thankful for the ones I have. My 3 best friends are Liddy, Tulip and Rosetta. I really could not live without them. Mostly because Liddy and Tulip are also full fairies. And Rosetta knows because she has fairy ancestors.
So my life is pretty crazy. But you can never know how crazy someone’s life can be until you hear their life story. Let’s start with mine.
Knock Knock Knock.
I put my pillow over my ears to cover the sound of the loud noise coming from my door.
“What do you want?” I yelled.
“Mom says you need to get ready cause’ she’s not driving you,” My older brother, Jacob, hollered back.
I waited till his footsteps faded down the hall before I got out of bed. I threw on clean pair of skinny jeans and a slim fitting cardigan as I quickly grabbed my brush and started brushing my straight, naturally highlighted, blonde hair. I sat down on a stool and starting putting on some eyeliner and mascara around my big blue eyes. That’s another thing about fairies, they have really bright eyes.
So I jumped when I heard my mom yell up the stairs. So I grabbed my stuff and ran down to eat a quick breakfast.
“Blair!”
I sharply turned my head as someone called my name. I was at my locker before homeroom and I saw my 3 best friends running towards me. I shut my locker and ran the rest of the way towards them.
“What’s up?’ I asked.
“Reese broke up with his girlfriend last night,” Rosetta explained.
Reese is Rosetta’s adopted older brother, and I’ve had a crush on him since forever. The best thing is that Rosetta doesn’t even care. But the bad thing is that Reese is popular and me and Rosetta…well we aren’t as much.
“No way! He’s totally mine.” I joked.
“He’s all yours,” They agreed.
I smiled. Even though it would never happen between me and Reese, it was good to know that he wouldn’t get between my friends and me.
We then all went our separate ways to homeroom. And right when I walked in, my friend, but not best friend, Sarah, called me over.
“Blair, we need your help,” Sarah explained.
Sarah is a short, bubbly girl with no brains. So it was expected that she would ask me, a very smart girl, about the homework…or whatever.
I sat down before I answered her.
“With what?” I asked, even though I already knew the answer.
“With the really hard math homework.” She answered.
I laughed to myself and fixed my bangs. Almost every day they cheated off my work, and I would not stand for it any longer.
“Sorry, but no, your gonna have to do your work on your own time.” I informed them.
Sarah and the rest of her posse frowned. I could tell they weren’t giving up that easy.
“Oh come on, you’ve always helped us before,” Sarah whined.
“Yeah, and I really shouldn’t have,” I mumbled.
I could feel all their eyes on me and I blushed. I usually don’t tell people off like this. Then Robbie, the most popular freshmen, came over and sat in the desk next to mine. I looked through my bangs at him as he moved his chair closer, so our knees were touching. Robbie had chocolate brown hair and deep, dark, brown eyes. He was tall and captain of the football team. Typical, right?
But I got a little queasy whenever I was around him, so I usually kept my distance.
“Maybe after you help us, I can walk you to class, “He offered.
I bit my lip.
“As tempting as that is, the bell is gonna ring” I replied.
And just to my luck, the bell rang a second later.
Lunchtime.
One of my favorite times of the day.
1) Because I love food
2) Because it’s the only time that me and my same friends are all together.
I groaned as I sat down at our usual table. Sarah had been ignoring me all day, and Robbie wouldn’t leave me alone, even though I refused to let him and his buddies cheat off me.
“What’s wrong Blair bear?” Tulip asked.
We all have nicknames for each other. I’m Blair bear, Rosetta is Rosetta stone, Tulip is T-dawg, and Liddy is Miss Liddo.
“Nothing, I just hate being smart,” I muttered.
Their mouths all dropped.
“I’d give almost anything to be smart,” Liddy said.
“Yeah, but you don’t have multiple people wanting to cheat off you,” I pouted.
They all gave me sympathy looks and then we were all tangled up in a group hug. We were laughing so hard and just loving our friendship that we didn’t notice someone walk up to our table.
“Um, excuse me ladies?”
It was Robbie. We all let go of each other and I frowned. He was staring at me and I didn’t like it.
“I’m gonna have to steal Blair for a minute,” He announced.
We only had a second to stare at each other before he grabbed my arm and pulled me our into the hallway. Out of eye sight and hearing range. He didn’t loosen his grip.
“Can you let go of me?” I blurted.
He blinked and quickly dropped my arm.
“What do you want?” I asked.
He cleared his throat and crossed his arms over his muscle (I was guessing), chest.
I had a bad feeling about this.
“I wanna know the real reason why you won’t hand over your paper,” Robbie said.
I stood there in shock. Did he think I was hiding something?!
“ok look, I do not want anyone to cheat off my paper because it’s wrong and I’m tired of being taken advantage of.” I admitted.
Robbie smiled at me, like he liked what he was hearing. I shuddered as he put his arm around my shoulder.
“I would never take advantage of you. I like you too much,” He whispered in my ear.
I could feel his hot breath on my skin, and for some reason, I was scared.
I opened my mouth to say something, anything, but then the bell rang, saving me from disaster.
“Well I don’t wanna be late to class. SO bye!” I said and ran off.
But really, I never did go back to class

Knock Knock Knock.

We then all went our separate ways to homeroom. And right when I walked in, my friend, but not best friend, Sarah, called me over.
“Blair, we need your help,” Sarah explained.

I stood there in shock. Did he think I was hiding something?!
“ok look, I do not want anyone to cheat off my paper because it’s wrong and I’m tired of being taken advantage of.” I admitted.
Robbie smiled at me, like he liked what he was hearing. I shuddered as he put his arm around my shoulder.
“I would never take advantage of you. I like you too much,” He whispered in my ear.
I could feel his hot breath on my skin, and for some reason, I was scared.
I opened my mouth to say something, anything, but then the bell rang, saving me from disaster.
“Well I don’t wanna be late to class. SO bye!” I said and ran off.
But really, I never did go back to class
