Evanescence Question

Why does The Open Door get so much hate?

I've noticed recently with the release of their latest album that this album has gotten more dislike from fans than I thought. I've heard it being called "artsy rather than entertaining" and even a reviewer who didn't like their self-titled album said "at least it's better than The Open Door". In my opinion, The Open Door is their best studio album to date and I can't understand why it turns so many people off. I personally like "artsy" music better than more "generic" rock because to me it's more interesting. Is it too "weird" for some people?

That makes me wonder... is there anyone on this fanspot specifically that really hates The Open Door?

Yeah, I've even seen some people on Fanpop say the only "good" songs from that album are Lithium and Call Me When You're Sober... :/

the open door is my all time fav album ,every song I hear is a part of me ,I really don't understand all the hate for evanescence 3rd album or the hate for the open door maybe cause afew people can understand what's behind these songs ,and I don't understand all the love for fallen I mean I love the album of curse but I think the open door is wayyyyyyyyyy 10 times to earth better than fallen and the 3rd album the same even if some of you won't agree with me , but the open door better than ev even If I love sooo many songs are unique on that album, every part of the songs go perfectly with the lyrics on the open door ,but I think that the great things shouldn't be very popular that will burn it ,songs like lose control and cloud nine has so many hate ,cause they're dark and yes as you said songs like those are weird for people
so does for some songs on evanescence I mean come on taking over me has more views than my heart is broken
that's why I hope evanescence will make an album as great as the open door but in the same time has that unique sound that will crush my soul
and I really don't care what the people say ,I love the open door and some freaking kids won't make me change my mind

The reasons why people hate it are:
1:This album was made after Ben Moody left and people couldn't get over about the fact that Ben Moody was no more in Evanescence
2:People hate it because the style of the music is very very different from Fallen
3:People think that Amy Lee overreacted about her break up with Shaun Morgan by writing the song Call Me When Your Sober about him that made him look like a bad person and that she only wrote that song to gain attention from the media
4:The songs aren't catchy like ''Bring Me To Life''or ''My Immortal''
5:They hate the fact that they used Mozart's masterpiece ''Lacrimosa''to make a ''commercial rock song for teenagers''out of it

So basically it's because they have issues with Amy and the line-up change, and it sounds too "different" for them? Well... I guess I kind of figured that already, but number 5 surprises me. You would think someone would be happy any classical influence at all would be put into a rock song. *sighs*
