Evanescence Question

How does "Evanescence" compare to their other albums?

Personally I think this was their best album...Hard rock is better-fitted for them than "Goth" metal. But what do you guys think? As it was a lot different were any of you disappointed? Pleasantly surprised? Indifferent?

To be honest I AM disappointed! It's a really good album & the lyrics speak so good to me but I just can't feel that special thing what I feel in Fallen & The Open Door. Before I heard the songs, I thought they would be like soooo powerful, emotional and the bests ever!! I would listen to them every single day but it didn't happen.
To me this is definitely not their best album! I looove Fallen & The Open Door sooooo much more and I also like their old sound much much more! Also Origin..this darker songs.

I agree, I love the new album more than the old ones, and I wasn't disappointed at all, and I didn't see much difference, really, it's still sound like Evanescence to me, maybe that's because I love them so much, and I love everything that comes from them. <3

I was suprised because it was quite different but I still like the sound. I thought that Fallen and The Open Door were really different as well. What You Want and Sick are going on my list of best songs ever!!!

I think it's a good album. It's my least favorite of all of their albums, but it's still a good album.

The thing is, I actually love the darker elements from their earlier albums. I thought the "gothic" sound was perfect for them. I love the heavier stuff too, but when it comes to heavy music in general I usually like to go straight to metal, so the dark stuff was more of my thing. I know this album was a lot of people's favorite album because a lot of them don't like that other stuff, but I honestly love it. I don't know why, but the darker subjects make me feel more and get my imagination spinning. Their latest album is more "normal" sounding, and overall it feels different than the other albums. They seemed more like the traditional rock band than the old Evanescence that truly stood out from other bands.
