Eric from the book!!! No one, and I mean NO ONE is as perfect as Eric. Impossible for a real life guy to be better than the TRUE Eric Northman

Love them both... Aren't they one in the same? When I am reading the books I picture Eric Northman to look like the tv character. There have not been enough episodes of True Blood for me I want MORE lol The books have been the catalyst to make me love Eric

They're both great. You must remember that if you've read the books, Eric is well developed. Of course, if you're only the 2nd book in, well, you're on par, though a different level with Eric. All is the same, I do not think they take away from his humor nor power in the tv series. Eric is a very magnetic caricature both in the books and on tv. Alex Skarsgard does an excellent job with him. I am waiting anxiously to see the rest- pink spandex and all! (I am thinking this won't happen, but that and the shower scene are highlights to my imagination!)

BUT IF right now book or tv...book all the way. While Alex does an excellent portrayal of our favorite vamp, in the book, as always, you get a more "in depth" feel of what is going on between hm and sookie. Perhaps we will get to see the more humorous side of Eric in the show, his manipulative, selfish, non-selfish, caring, intuitive side....Great directing if we do :) So far, I do like Eric in the book better, BUT in book two, I was still undecided...however, I did like him more than Bill always. Bill is just TOO controlling and "I am older and know better than you" type....blah. Eric was better in the shower anywho :P

the book's Eric is better, have you *seen* my imagination's Eric? Way hot! That however is open to change as the tv show progresses. We are comparing one season to what-nine books. although, cutting Eric's hair...I don't know, they may have taken steps backwards with that move!

I think that Eric in the book is more discriptive and you can imagine the inner conflict more. The Eric in the show is who I picture when I am reading the books. I do think that Eric in the show is the same but you cant read his mind you have to read his actions. I am waiting impatiently for more of the true blood series 2!

In the books Eric is my favorite character ever and I love how Charlaine Harris made him be one of the lead characters and the only one Sookie can rely on for better or worse :D

and as for the show well...I'm dissapointed because they just put Bill (whom wich I hate) up on a pedestal and made Eric be the boogeyman,Eric never kidnapped and tortured/killed anyone in a basement and neither did he summon Lorena to hold Bill away from Sookie...

I don't want to write spoilers for the people who haven't read the books but believe me Bill is not a good and honest person...

Book Eric, any day. He's pretty awesome in the show - but the original version is always the best. :)

I think they couldn't have gotten a better person to play eric... (naked scene, yum) but his character in the book, you can't help but think he's amazing, what he will do for sookie... it's that character you fall for...

TrueBlood's incarnation of Eric is vastly different from the character as developed in the Southern Vampire novels by Charlaine Harris. Eric on the page is a bit of a trickster while Eric on the screen is scary. In TrueBlood, he is depicted as a very powerful boss-- with a bit of a soft-side; while in the books he is more a quirky corporate VP. I like what the TrueBlood team has done with the character, but I adore the Corvette-driving, silk-boxers wearing, tricky Eric who weasels himself into Sookie's heart and quite a few times, into her bed.

Yes your right about Eric in the book is good. But the Eric on the Show is a little more interesting and also it better to put a face with the book.

After my opinion eric is much better in the books. Not just because I read them first, but he is much nicer in the books! In the show eric says that little children are delicious (ugh, but he's hot though), and in the books when sookie hears his thoughts he thinks that he dont want to kill anyone (unless necessary). Plus there are ALOT more lovescenes (and scenes in general) between eric and sookie. I mean come on their first kiss on the show was in season 3, and in book #3 they almost had sex. Sooo Book-Eric wins. Definitely
