Storn picked Im just used to it:
I think it is simpler than most other languages, because I am used to watch so much english TV, and then it just get's easier, because you are used to hear it. Because I'm a dane, then we also have subtitles, wich makes it easier to translate. Not like in germany where the voices are different. I am glad, that it's not like that here, because then I would'nt probably be so good at english, as I am now. Of course we have danish television of our own, but many things at tv are english...Not news or something, just tv shows...That's the reason I am used to it...

I'm English so I'm partially just used to it, but I also think it is simpler because there are no genders, not so many changes for different cases and the majority of verbs are easy.

It's amazing really how many foreign people can speak English really well. I've been learning French since I was 11 and I did 2 years of German and I'm still not that good. Do other countries teach English from an earlier age?

Yeah, my birth language sounds so stupid, do you know how sounds German? Like "I´m big and fat 50 years old guy with moustache" (I´m sorry Germans). And Czech sounds the same, maybe little "more fat". Oh. Thanks God for House M.D., because actually I´m teaching English because of Hugh´s Laurie perfect voice :)

Freakshow picked Its just sexy:
It´s hard to make stuff sound good in Norwegian or Icelandic (Those are both sorta my first languages) Freeze, Assholes: Ikkje rör dykk, gutar! (Hope no norwegian people read that, I probably misspelled it :S)
Icelandic: I´m one of those overly fakehappy people serving the food on airplanes!
Norwegian: I´m a strikt teacher from the 1950´s, SIT DOWN! DO YOUR HOMEWORK!! YOU´RE IN BIG TROUBLE!! NO EXCUSES!!! GO TO DETENTION!!! NOW!!!
English: I´m hot!
English with british accent: I´m hotter and you want to melt to the ground and listen to me talk forever.
English with australian accent: When I talk you just wanna curl up in my lap and make me whisper in your ear forever.
English with a tastefull mix of british and australian accents: *orgasm*

*Cough* AHEM, I did NOT write that *Hides*

xx_becky_xx picked Im just used to it:
It's things like this that frustrates me about the English education system. I was only ever taught English at Primary School. When I reached Secondary School I learnt French for 3 years and Spanish for 4 but have learnt either well enough to be able to communicate well enough in either country. I am able to speak about my favourite school subjects but how is "I like my Geography teacher, he explains well" in Spanish going to help me when I am in Madrid.
In so many countries English has to be taught from a very young age and therefore can be spoken fluently, however there is no pressing NEED for British people to learn another language, apparently - although I believe that it is an impressive quality, and therefore I also dislike the English language.

I mainly got to love English because I love Harry Potter so much and the original book and movie versions are just so much better. But I also agree with many other reasons mentioned here, like the internationality.
