Abby was hotwiring the TARDIS, and doing a good job of it, she thought. Trying to separate wires had resulted in her sonic burning out (which included a very nasty word uttered in Gallifreyan that she didn't even know how she knew) and now had to separate wires from one another. Using her fingers.
Abby loved her fingers. They'd resulted in landing the TARDIS safely in Cardiff without Amy, Rory (or the baby, for that matter) being destroyed in the Time Vortex. Now they were in danger of falling off completely.
