Matthew is always my favourite

The Dowager Countess is the most entertaining character on the show I think.

But I also really like Mr. Carson.

Both Mr. Carson and the Dowager represent the "old system" and them trying to cope with the change is just so very funny. Both characters are just perfect caricatures of britishness and tradition.

and Bates I just love them both

For me, it has to be Lady Mary Crawley because I was and still am the eldest child just like her so she's the one that I could really empathize with.
