Silverfang is correct, they are both the same; 'wiener dog' is the American name for dachshund, which translates as 'badger dog' in German, as they were originally used for digging out and hunting badgers, being small enough to fit down the sett and tenacious enough to put up a good fight. Where I come from (UK) they are often called sausage dogs, as sausage is the British word for a wiener!
