Bookish: How did you decide on a YA novel adaptation for your next project?
Evan Daugherty: I was looking at a lot of things – a lot of comic books–and reading a lot of books, and in the process of that…I read five of these YA books. I read “Pure” by Julianna Baggott, “Legend” [by Marie Lu], “Delirium” [by Lauren Oliver] and “This Dark Endeavor” [by Kenneth Oppel]–it’s kind of a cool, young adult version of the “Frankenstein” story.
Bookish: So you obviously read some popular stuff being shopped around–why did you choose to adapt ”Divergent?”
ED: It’s a mutual...

Teen Read Week was October 14th through 20th, but here at The Hub, we’re celebrating for ten days so we can bring you interviews, guest posts, videos, and more with each of the authors whose books made this year’s Teens’ Top Ten. Today we feature Veronica Roth, whose book Divergent is #1 on this year’s list.

Divergent is a book about bravery, self-determination, friendship, family, loyalty, and making choices. It is a book that positively captivated (not just) teen readers across the nation, myself included. When given the opportunity, I jumped at the chance to ask Veronica Roth a few...

Anyone else sincerely interested in creating a small-scale Candor community? Or even multi-faction communities.

I know it didn't work for them, and I'm not a crazy super fan or anything, but after watching & reading the Divergent series I couldn't help but start seriously imagining how to create a real-world version. All the things I'd do differently and the things I'd keep the same.

If you think about it, it's just like creating an Intentional Community and there's plenty of those succeeding around the world. I think if the right people with the right vision got together, we could make it happen!

Who's with me?!
"Move over, Katniss. Tris is next in line."

I don't remember who said this, but it was a Divergent critic that was quoted at the beginning of the book. I don't particularly appreciate the comment because it's encouraging rivalry or competition between the two series. Possibly comments like this one could have been one of the reasons why some Hunger Games fans "don't like Divergent," because they still like the Hunger Games. They don't want another book to take its place. But why do the two series have to be rivals? Does Katniss really need to "move over" for Tris to have her chance? Can't they...

O. M. G. Is it just me, or are Divergent and Hunger games, EXACTLY THE SAME!!!!! Both have problems involving some form of government, and both have wicked government persons. (btw beware this article will have some foul words.) Both Divergent and HG have badass characters and hot lead guy characters, (four and peeta and gale). Both states, or worlds, are divided in some form of colonies.WTF. Have you also noticed both have iconic symbols, the mockingjay pin, and Tris's bats?!?!?! Started to get what im saying??? Both have some kind of war wtch kills like tons of people. Each colony (wtch I...

{This is just my opinion. I am sorry if I offend anyone. Also, there might be some cursing here, so do not read if you dislike cursing.}
{MAJOR Spoilers! Please do not read if you have not read Allegiant or do not want spoilers!}

Allegiant. I honestly do not know where to start on this book. Might as well start from the very beginning.
A tired me was looking for something to read in the book store. I found the Divergent Box Set, and since my friends had constantly been chatting about how it's the 'new Hunger Games', I decided to give it a try. Divergent was the first book, I loved it. It was well-written,...

Hi,

So I am just going to give my opinion and write a bit about the Divergent series by Veronica Roth.

So first of all I would like to say that the series is very well written and includes lots of detail. What I don't like about the last book is that the chapters are not just about Tris but about Tobias and Tris. My favorite character is Tobias and as I said in a poll I would most like to spend a day with him!
I hate Jeanine Matthews and Peter Hayes as most people do and wish for them to be dead. Jeanine Matthews did die though. I love this series.

Ingredients:
One unbaked pie crust
One batch of chocolate chip cookie dough
One batch of chocolate cake mix
One batch of your favorite frosting
Sprinkles (red)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray deep dish pie plate with cooking spray.
Lay unbaked pie crust in pie plate
Cover bottom of pie crust with cookie dough (about ½ to ¾ inch deep)
Prepare cake mix according to package directions; pour over cookie dough until pie crust is almost full
Bake for about 44-55 minutes, or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean
Let cool completely and frost the top. Add sprinkles -if you’re really ambitious (and we know you are), use red sprinkles to create the Dauntless symbol!

So, I’ve read these (amazing) books and watched their trailers. The movies look awesome but I feel like movies are exaggerated WAY TOO MUCH!! Like, if you are going to take the time to call yourself a true fan, read the books!! Veronica Roth has made the beautiful creation that is what we call the Divergent Trilogy. Those are books. She didn’t however create the Divergent Movie Trilogy. Which as you would guess, are movies. I think that books are sort of like the glue of most stories, series, trilogies, etc. But, I respect people who watch the movies becsause some people have a hard time reading or don’t get enough time to. So whatever type of fan you are, well done! And by the way, “You’re Abnegation is showing”. Lol
We are all entitled to our own opinions so here is mine if you agree with me great. If you don't that's not my problem. Just if you comment and you don't agree don't be mean. I have seen really mean comments on here and it's a shame.

Alright here we go:

First of all the hunger games are fimed and they are aired on television. Divergent is not filmed or aired on television.

Next technically the hunger games only its suppose to have ONE winner... They have let Katniss slide so much it's a bit sad that she loses everyone she cases about at the end of the story. Divergent is not necessarily a one...

I know this is late. I wanted to post this the day the trailer came out, but my birthday was on Saturday so I was busy all weekend. And I've been busy with school finals this week. Now it's Friday so I can finally do this thing!

On to the Review!

*Slight disclaimer, I have read the trilogy, but I have not seen the first movie. So excuse me if some of my comments are irrelevant. Also this will be full of sassiness and sarcasm haha so don't take everything I write too seriously ;)*

Trailer Time: 0:02

THE BOX. What the frick frack diddly dack is this? So this really confused me and angered me...this...

There is a lot going around that Divergent is a rip off of The Hunger Games. I don't agree. I like them both equally but I don't see them being the same. there are notable differences between the two.

Let's start with the obvious:

The kids in Divergent aren't fighting in a game of life or death on television.

Yes, they both take place in dystopian worlds but their dystopian worlds are different than eachother. in Katniss's it's poverty, with Tris, she has it a little better than Katniss.

But really, I don't like them being compared to eachother. it was the same with Harry potter and Twilight and look how that turned out.
