Should auld acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind? Sure. Should your New Year’s resolutions be inspired by Disney•Pixar characters? Definitely! Take 2016 to infinity and beyond with these New Year’s resolutions ranging from the incredible to the emotional to everything in between:
So, you meet a 300-toothed great white shark* while looking for your clownfish son and you’re a bit anxious about it. We’ve all been there. Instead of jumping to hasty conclusions about this “predator,” take a minute to get to know the guy. He might just be the biggest sweetheart in the deep blue sea.
*Warning: Do NOT swim with great white sharks.
Just try lifting a few train cars. Getting a superhero bod is easy as 1, 2, 3 tons of steel. Visit your local abandoned train lot to find out more (or maybe just hit the gym).
Friends come in all species and abilities. Whether it’s a reptile who protects you from creatures that crawl in the night or a human who’s always there for you when you’re feeling blue, you never know where you’ll find friendship.
There’s no school like the old school. If you’re looking for advice, the Hudson Hornet next door is your guy. If you can’t find a talking car nearby, maybe just have a chat with an equally well-spoken human.
5. Don’t be discouraged by your shortcomings (or your short arms).
Even if you can’t press the ‘fire’ button and ‘jump’ at the same time, that doesn’t mean you can’t defeat Zurg. Hurdles are meant to be leapt over, and you’ll figure out a way to fly past any obstacle. Just remember: When all else fails, use your head.
6. Listen to your imagination, especially if it manifests itself as a world famous chef.
When all hope is seemingly lost, you might just start imagining a tiny, floating version of your role model serving up words of wisdom. Instead of ignoring your heart, spice up your life and listen. Reality will follow suit.
7. Stand up to the grasshopper who’s been bullying you and your family.
Stick it to the man—er, grasshopper — and stand up for what you believe in. Enough is enough, and 2016 is the perfect time for you to start speaking up when things aren’t right. After all, it only takes one tiny ant to change the entire colony.
Sure, it’s all fine and dandy when you’re feeling good, but life’s not always sunshine and butterflies and Rainbow Unicorns. It’s important to be a human and feel the feels, so embrace your Sadness, your Anger, your Fear, your Disgust, and your Joy. They’re what make you you.
9. Open your door to new experiences (and exiled snowmen).
From the Himalayas to Monstropolis, there are plenty of places to explore on the other side of the door. Don’t shut yourself off from opportunities that are seemingly scary and 23-19ish in the new year. You never know what great things you’ll find. So go ahead. Eat the yellow snow cones.
10. Most importantly, never, EVER lose track of your super suit.
You never know when the world needs saving.
