I got a new laptop! I'd only had my old one for six months, but it had been having problems ever since I got it (weird grinding noises and the screen would suddenly go black). Luckily I had a warranty for it so now I have a completely different brand new computer! It's nice so far, but the colors are all SUPER bright on it. I finished watching The Little Mermaid 2: Return To The Sea and I definitely admit it doesn't hold up to as good as when I was a kid but I still love it. I don't consider it to be a good movie by any means and it has plenty of problems. I'm aware of its problems and I don't care! I love it for nostalgic reasons and it's a guilty pleasure. Thankfully, with big hits like Zootopia and Moana, I think the Frozen hype has FINALLY died down after three years! It makes me wonder how I'd feel about the movie now with the hype died down. I finally saw Moana today! This won't contain any major spoilers. Overall I enjoyed the film - Moana was an amazing character, the soundtrack was absolutely phenomenal, and the animation was gorgeous. I have only two complaints: primarily Hei Hei. The movie would have been better without him in it. He was a pretty blatant use of mental disabilities as comic relief, and every time he did something "funny" I wished Pua was there instead. I haven't seen Moana, but based on the music and things here and there, does anyone feel they have a lot of nods and references to past Disney films, esp. Ron and John's. Like Aladdin, Hercules, The Little Mermaid...Even the songs like You're Welcome remind me of Friend like Me. And Shiny seems like a David Bowie inspired song, which is great since Bowie was such an artist...Maybe it's first impressions but this seems very interesting and makes Moana kinda engaging. Haven't seen the movie...so no spoilers. But now I have "You're Welcome" stuck in my head, along with Moana's eyes virtually popping out of her head. This is reminiscent of the "oomph" and zany "energy" that is alive throughout "Hercules." This song actually seems to propel the plot forward. This is a great departure from Brave's melodrama and Frozen's broadway showbiz tunes that didn't resonate. This is a step in the right direction... Now after I've had a day to think about it, I really must say that I loved Moana and not just because of the great characters and story but because the animation and music were so excellent and even revolutionary. The animation was gorgeous and so detailed, plus the film has so many epic visuals. The soundtrack is also impressive, it's so different and I love that. I saw Moana earlier today! I liked it, partly because it used elements found in other great Disney movies but reworked them in order to create something fun and unique, and occasionally unusual. It had some random moments but those were usually funny so I didn't mind them and the music was nice, I like that Disney decided to go in a different direction with it, it's fresh and new. I just came back from seeing Moana and I'll try to keep this mini-review spoiler free! I need some advice on something that's a little silly but I also need the advice SOON because it's kind of a bidding thing. I'm looking at a HORRIBLE week! I developed two abscesses on my armpit (both on the same armpit) and today I got it drained by a doctor. However, the wounds can't close yet so it has to have packing in it. I just got finished with my parents trying to pack both of the abscesses and it was absolutely PAINFUL!
