I think it'd be nice to show girls who are self conscious about their bodies that you don't have to be thin to be beautiful

^they're realistic but still thin though. Imo the most realistic looking animated woman disney made was Nani from Lilo and Stitch

^I agree. To me even Mulan is too skinny to be realistic. Snow White, maybe.

Yeah I'd like a girl who has rolls on her stomach when she bends over, who has a muffin top, who isn't so thin that, as Cookie from Atlantis would put it, when you turn to the side and stick out your tongue you'd look like a zipper

I'd like to see a curvy princess.
Actually I think Moana isn't too thin for a standart of Disney female heroine.

Sure but I'm not really into holding Disney responsible for improving people's self esteem.

^I'm just saying it would be nice if one of the biggest companies would make a movie with a chubby girl character because then chubby girls everywhere can think "Oh she looks just like me!"

I mostly want them to have a healthy weight. They are supposed to be role models after all. Their role is to encourage girls to be the best version of themselves, not to make them feel good about themselves.

^so basically you're saying you want a chubby girl to feel bad about herself?

@disnerdtobe I understood the question as "do you want an overweight Princess", I guess partly because we had a similar discussion elsewhere where the question was if having an obese Princess would be a good idea. Neither Marilyn Monroe nor Nani are overweight. They have a healthy weight, and I would prefer more princesses shaped like this. But I don't want one which looks like Radcliff. This is not a body weight which should be encouraged in young children in any way.

" Their role is to encourage girls to be the best version of themselves, not to make them feel good about themselves. " YIKES!!!!! The Best version of themselves is the version where they feel GOOD about themselves!! wow!!! swanpride you got a lot of transparent fatphobia. girls who are ratcliffe's weight exist and it doesn't ENCOURAGE kids to be overweight by watching a movie with an overweight character. it just lets overweight girls know that they deserve to be princesses too

If "not thin" means overweight, then no. If you mean just a healthy, normal body, then that would be fine.
We do already have Moana and Mulan, who are not very thin and have a great athletic body type. I wouldn't really call Snow White thin either.

^just because someone is overweight doesn’t mean they’re not healthy and just because someone is thin means they are healthy...

^um, yes, it is a fact that being overweight makes people much more likely to have all kinds of health problems. I never said being thin is a guarantee of health.

^my husband is healthy as a horse and is overweight because it’s hard to lose weight and we have a friend who is overweight because when he was younger he was really thin and his drs gave him pills to put some weight on but it put too much on and now he can’t take it off too

There are overweight people who are really healthy, it’s just harder to take the weight off than it is gaining it
