AudreyFreak picked Brave:
tough call. both have good details with insanely hard-to-animate-hair on their heroines. Though Tangled is obviously a *prettier* movie (all filled with pastels, gold and sparkles), I love how natural Brave looks. it's got a lot of dark colors contrasting with the lush emerald hills and grass. I like how the magic looks in both movies- gold, sparkly and sunny in Tangled, and blue and smoky in Brave. I prefer Tangled's animation (I admit, I like the pretty sparkles) but I think Brave is a bit better.

AllegroGiocoso picked Tangled:
They're kind of hard to compare because Tangled's animation is so bright and Brave's is so natural. The scenery for both is very pretty, but Tangled's character animation is much better in my opinion so I give my vote based on that.

I think these two are hard to compare.
Brave has Merida's hair- which did mesmerize me. Also the scenery looked very natural. However, I think they made the characters look strange- sort of hybrids between the Incredible/Ratatoullie-type caricature-looking people and Tangled-type realistic people.
Gothel's hair was no where near Merida's. It all sort of moved as one clump. However, the characters all looked natural, and Rapunzel's hair was really good (though it seemed to keep changing lengths.) Also, the lantern scene was INCREDIBLE, as well as the emotion on the parents' faces- they tell the whole story without a word.
So Tangled just has more standouts.

Obviously Brave is going to have better animation because it took the stuff Tangled made and perfected it. I prefer Tangled's animation though, I like the soft, golden appeal to it whereas Brave's animation is too cool and clean cut to me.

Swanpride picked Brave:
Objectively, Brave's is technically a little bit better, but only because it stands on the shoulders of Tangled...if the question were "more inventive" or "more impressive" my answer would be "Tangled" for sure. And Tangled has the better character design. Not just because I don't really like the cartooney style they picked for Merida (which, Imho, clashes horrible with the realistic landscape), but also because the faces in Tangled are ten times more impressive. Especially the animation of the King and the Queen is outstanding.

LupinPrincess picked Brave:
Brave has better tech and arguably better hair, the horse acts more like a dog than a horse...the environment in brave has more research, not to mention the wisps and the new technology in layered clothes...sorry but if you truly study animation, brave wins this one...can't wait for frozen to show off the ice and snow tech!

Both have brilliant animation, but I have to go on Brave for this one. The landscapes and hair are so detailed and realistic, and the atmosphere that comes off of the animation sets the mood a bit better than Tangled. What I do have to give Tangled some credit for is the character designs. Brilliant. I like the animation of the wisps, clothes, hair, water, and they really brought Scotland to life.

I prefer Tangled's animation but objectively Brave's animation is better for reasons stated above. The Scottish highlands are animated superbly... just the overall atmosphere is great. I think animation is Brave's strongest point as a movie.

Both have very good animation though. While I like how Brave is animated, I prefer the colors and design of Tangled more.
