IsaacKuo picked Beauty and the Beast:
I'm particularly impressed by the dialog of Beauty and the Beast. It constructs the story so well, and features a subtle interplay between what characters say and think and what they think needs to be said and what others think. I love how it works and connects even if the viewer isn't really thinking too deeply about the subtleties, but the deeper levels are there to reward the viewer who chooses to delve deeper.

Also, BatB has what I consider the most romantic and truly touching moment in any Disney movie--the climactic scene when Beast explains that he let Belle go. The story is constructed around this moment. It's the reason for Belle's personality flaws as well as Beast's personality. It's a perfect storm of how their characters and their subtle misunderstandings swirl around each other. It's great storytelling.

While all of those movies had some pretty unique and rememberal beautiful stories I will have to go with The Little Mermaid, because it's the first movie where female and male character come from two different worlds (and not in terms of social status or culture, but literally). The character of Ariel doesn't have a goal to fulfill within her world, because her goal/dream is to become a part of another and considering the ammount of human things in her collection it's safe to suggest that she had been dreaming about it for her entire life (if we take TLM series in consideration it's pretty obvious that Ariel wanted to somehow belong to human world since she was very young). Also the love story doesn't distract from the main idea of the movie which was Ariel's journey and transformation and her love for Eric ended up being more of a driving force for her to take action in her own hands (and it wasn't the only driving force she had considering her long term desire to be a part of the human world long before she met Eric and her rocky relationship with her father) than the main focus of the movie.

Mulan and Tangled had some pretty amazing and unique stories too because they had flashes of true brilliance and originality and were generally very innovative.

Popcornfan picked The Princess and The Frog:
I think it's the best developed story, the elements of the plot are righfully placed and well distributed. The story makes sense in every way, in every detail, it's coherent and solid. All the storys are nice, but this one stands for its integrity.

A girl breaking free of traditions and trying to discover who she truly is, while saving a country at the same time. Sounds like a good story to me.

And Tangled....I think because those two movies are the ones which break out of the mold of the fairy tale/source text the most, and that without creating a mess like the overcomplicated plot line of PotF is.
