This is a movie I'm really not looking forward to watching. I don't mind watching sequels because I used to love them so much when I was a kid but Mulan is one of my all-time favorite movies ever and this sequel is like on a Maleficent level of ruining original characters.
Tonight's rewatch: Mulan 2 Last time watched: 2005-2006
How much did I like this movie as a kid? I saw the commercial for this movie when I was 11 and I was excited because, again, Mulan is one of my all-time favorite movies. I didn't actually watch the movie until I was 13 or 14 because I was starting middle school when this...
So I'm going to be really honest with you. After watching Pocahontas 2 and Mulan 2 I really really really really don't want to watch this movie. That's why it took me so long to watch it and write this article and the reason I'm only just now doing it is because I borrowed this movie from the library almost 2 weeks ago and I have to return it tomorrow.
Tonight's rewatch: Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas Last time watched: 2000-2006
How much did I like this movie as a kid? When I was little I loved this movie. Every year I used to pop this movie into the vcr (remember those?) and watch...
I'm really looking forward to watching this one. Mulan was one of my favorite movies growing up!
Tonight's rewatch: Mulan Last time watched: 2015
How much did I like this movie as a kid? I loved this movie when I was a kid! Mulan, both the movie and the character, was actually one of the reasons I became a feminist and why I love badass women (kinda why I don't 100% blame the revival era for people hating princesses who find love or aren't "kickass"). I used to sing the songs all the time when I was a kid and I loved any merch I could get (which wasn't a lot). I still have my stuffed Cri-Kee that...
I know Frozen isn't part of the Disney Princess franchise but this movie was on the list of movies to watch for months before I finally started doing these articles so please just go with it. Or don't read it. Whichever keeps things drama free.
Tonight's rewatch: Frozen Last time watched: 2014
How much did I like this movie as a kid? I was 20 going on 21 when this movie was released in theaters so I wasn't exactly a kid, more like a kid at heart. I wasn't excited about this movie at the time and it didn't help when Disney released childrens books that spoiled the plot, including the Hans spoilers,...
Tonight's rewatch: Both Frozen shorts Last time watched: 2018
How much did I like this movie as a kid? Like Frozen, these shorts came out in my 20s so I wasn't a kid but like I said before, I'm a kid at heart! I was hesitant to watch both shorts because I kept hearing a lot of Frozen haters call these shorts cash cows and said the holiday special was boring. I hardly heard anything positive about both shorts. I watched Frozen Fever about a week or two after it premiered and I loved it and I finally watched Olaf's Frozen Adventure around christmas time last year and, again, loved it!
Every time I come back from a hiatus I always do this and since it's been confirmed (in an indirect roundabout kinda way) that Moana will be apart of the lineup, it's as good of a time as any.
There's something about her that's just very forgettable, maybe it's because her movie evokes such apathy in me. Everything about her just screams "perfect modern role model" even more so than princesses like Belle, Poca, Mulan or Tiana and I find her even more "marketable", "manufactored" and obnoxiously flawless than Rapunzel. Even becoming chief feels like some gimmicky "role model" thing,...
Hello everyone! I'm Veronica (a.k.a. ApplesauceDoctr :D), and hey, it's been a little while since I've written an article. It feels good to get back into the spirit of writing. :D So, what have I today? As you can see, I'll be analyzing the song "Reflection" from Disney's Mulan. I made a lyric video for it about a week ago and realized just how deep the song is! However, in this analysis, I'll also be taking a look at the extended version of the song. It shows a different side of Mulan that...well, you'll see soon enough.
