Since Mulan is princess of the month, here some thoughts about which flower fits her the best. The movie, after all, offers some choices. The most obvious one is the magnolia, since that’s the translation of the name Mulan.

Then there is the white flower Mulan wears in her hair when she meets the matchmaker – the same flower she leaves behind when she goes to war. I’m not sure what kind of flower that’s suppose to be. I first considered lotus (since the lotus is such a reveled flower in Asia and gets often connected to the gods), but a lotus has more petals. A white cherry blossom would have exactly five petals, but they would be more round. There are some similarities with a white magnolia flower or a lily, but again, both have more petals. My best guess is the azalea - a white azalea has five petals, looks very similiar, but even more important, in China they are a symbol for womanhood (they also symbolize taking care, temperance and fragility, more or less everything Mulan is expected to be).

And finally, the most important of all, the flower her father points out to her. I originally assumed that they are sitting under a cherry tree – I think mostly because the cherry blossom is such a big deal in Japan and there are festivals surrounding it in China, too. But the “Hanami” in Japan is the one with the long tradition, while China just was inspired by it. Plus, the longer I look at it, the more I get the impression that those blossoms are supposed to be magnolias.
You can compare it yourself to the picture of some magnolias at the right, the similiarity is undeniable. Also it would make the whole scene so much more meaningful, if her father points out a late blooming "Mulan" instead of a random flower. But the scripts of "Mulan" I have found so far don't specify, there is only "blossoms" written, so unless the animators give an answer, we'll never know for sure.

But I admit I like cherry blossoms better for Mulan, since magnolias are fairly sensitive flowers, and Mulan is everything but sensitive. Cherry blossoms have three different meaning in the language of flowers: They stand for a good education, transience of life (Japan) and feminine beauty (China). All those meanings fit Mulan and her story nearly perfectly, although the meaning of magnolias (love of nature) works too.
In the end, I couldn’t really decide - So I made two wallpapers, one with cherry blossoms and one with magnolias, to honor the beauty of a late blooming flower.

I'm finally getting praised... Perfect
I'm finally getting praised... Perfect
Everyone here knows me to be the Shan Yu fan (Probably the biggest on this spot) with the unpopular opinion that Shan Yu is the best Disney Princess villain and the second best Disney villain. I am always asked why, so I decided to make this article giving a lot of the reasons why I have this opinion. I know a lot of you will probably not read this all the way through, but if you do, I was not holding a dictionary as I was writing this, I just got very serious on this topic.

So I hope you like it

When the term Disney villain comes to mind, people usually think of Scar, Ursula, Maleficent,...

Overdone? Maybe. Needed? Strongly so.

So, maybe some of you don't know, but I'm strongly annoyed when users criticize the Clasic Princesses for reasons I think are invalid. These reasons are:

1. Weakness
2. Anti-Feminists
3. Passiveness
4. They're Mary-Sues (have no flaws)

These are the lovely ladies I'm going to defend - Cinderella, Snow White and Aurora. Art not by me.

In this article, I'll explain why these arguments are invalid. Now, I'll warn you, you'll probably disagree (or agree, depending of what is your view in the classics) a lot with this article. If you don't respect opinions that...

Sorry guys, but I’m just getting frustrated with this. So I’m just going to give my honest, harsh opinions and thoughts. I definitely have a problem with the way all the princesses have been redesigned, but I have to wonder why it is Merida is being singled out for criticism and not any of the others.

First of all, I’ve got to say I don’t see some of the issues people are taking with her redesign. Well, two specifically. The first is this supposedly “sexual pose” in her redesign that is mentioned in this picture:

Here are the two poses she is commonly seen in with her new design:...

Sorry it's long. I have a lot of beliefs about these three to respond to! May get preachy!

I really hate all the hate the old princesses get, especially Snow White. She has a lot more personality than she is given credit for (more than many of the recent heroines have, too). she’s got a sassy sense of humor, she’s unbelievably emotionally strong despite the horrible abuse and near murder she went through twice (the victim blaming she and Cinderella get is rather disgusting and hypocritical), she never gave up hope about meeting her love again, she didn’t need to run around chasing boys...

Typical Merida photo.
Typical Merida photo.
This is my personal list of the prettiest Disney princesses. Again, this is just an opinion and their is no right or wrong.I will also be rating the princesses in a mark I find fair (out of 10)

11) Merida (Brave)
I think her round face is what bothers me the most. It looks just like a big,fat circle, although her freckles fit her quite well. Her hair looks like she hasn't brushed it in year. And no, I'm not saying curls are ugly, but I think hers has too many volume.Don't get me wrong, she is pretty but she can't compare to other princesses.
Rate: 4

10) Mulan (Mulan)
I think Mulan is pretty too,...

We all know that not even the Disney Princesses can be perfect so here's my article listing up some of the flaws that each princess has in my opinion. Okay I'm going to probably get a lot of hate for this, but like Miley Cyrus sang in Hannah Montana "Nobody's Perfect".

Snow White:

Even though I'm a big fan of her she has flaws, but they aren't big ones at all and the first one that I have listed I can understand that one. Okay the first flaw about her is that she accepted the apple from the old hag when she wasn't supposed to, but I can understand why she did it, the hag tricked her into...
