Disney Princess Question

How do you choose your favourite princesses?

I said I would participate in MaidofOrleans collaboration perspective polls and questions for articles. But now I'm thinking about pulling out on the favourite princess listing side.
I don't hate any of the princesses. I like each one in some way, I dislike each one in some way. Making a list of my favourite princesses is difficult. I'm open minded, I change my mind about characters. I do have a least favourite who has nearly always been in the same position since childhood. But the other rankings are so hard. Even more so that joint positions aren't allowed. But I'm not asking MaidofOrleans to change the rules, she can keep them.

What do you base it on? Personalities, relation to you, popular usage of character by you on the club, favourite DP movies or a well rounded perspective including the looks and the fashion?
I've been doing it from a personality - storyline - favourite movie perspective but that's not working for me because my feelings for relation and thoughts on online usage of characters is getting in the way!

Online, Jasmine and Aurora are my favourites due to personality, fashion and looks. But offline via movie and personality - Aurora is second to last and Jasmine is either somewhere in the top five or first. Top five = movie personality. First = relation to myself. Aurora can land in the top five as well due to how much I love her hair, eyes and princess gown. But I feel like users are going judge me for being superficial so I lower her to meet expectations but I, myself feel bad that she's so low.

I don't know. It's all a mess! Help! Do you agree that I should pull out?

Continued - Another example; The Little Mermaid is my favourite movie. So you'd think that Ariel would be my favourite right? I've had her on the top position but I feel bad for Jasmine who's lower. And then it's like where am I going to put Ariel then? I can't put her below the top five that wouldn't be right! Why can't I just put do joint rankings and get the classic six in the top five? Why is Belle at number six, when I can relate to her?! I feel bad for putting Rapunzel low because she's one of my friend's favourite princesses. It's like I'm disliking my friend. Or maybe I have too many thoughts and worries.

You aren't doing anything wrong. And just because a princess is lower on your list doesn't mean you have to "hate or dislike them." Nobody says you should. Some people do dislike the princesses at the bottom of their lists, but not everyone does. There are quite a few people who like every single princess, and the rankings still don't really matter towards "how they feel toward the princess."

Hey PrincessAyeka12! I'm sorry you're having so much trouble with this, and if you feel that pulling out on the Favorite DP List side is necessary because you can't give an accurate list I certainly wouldn't be upset or anything. Ranking these ladies is difficult since they are all so wonderful.

With that being said, I rank my favorite princesses mostly based on personality, and a little based on relatability. I have completely separate lists for prettiest, most relatable, favorite movie, etc. I think it's wonderful that you have an open mind and take into account other people's perspectives on the DPs (my list has changed on multiple occasions because I realized that I agreed with someone else's perspective that I hadn't thought of before), however I don't think you should rank Rapunzel high just because your best friend likes her the most. If you listen to your best friend's perspective on Rapunzel and find that you agree with her opinions then it makes sense to rank her higher, but simply doing it because your friend has her at number 1 is letting other people's opinions color your own, which I would caution against. Remember that this is supposed to be your favorite princess list, not your best friend's. Also, just because you put her lower doesn't mean you dislike her. Rapunzel is last on my list, but I still think she's a great character. I love every single princess.

I don't think it would be superficial to include looks in how you rank your favorites. Someone's appearance says a lot about them, and not only that but this is animation we're talking about which is a visual medium, so it makes sense that how the characters look could affect your opinion of them.

I hope this helps! If you have any more questions feel free to ask. :)

Don't let online opinions color your perspective. I mean, if you feel "pressure" to think a certain way that runs counter to the way you feel, you should not listen to the "pressure." ( I was guilty of this with Merida, for four years).

And though I arrange my list by personality first, and "how one looks" last, doesn't mean looks don't matter. Mulan tops Ariel for me in personality, but Ariel tops Mulan for me in the looks criteria. You don't have to feel obligated to continually put your favorite at the top of your list in all areas.

We miss having enough contributing members in countdowns and lists and so forth, so the option to bow out is totally yours. I just happen to think that you aren't doing anything wrong with submitting a list, even if you aren't exactly sure where to put each princess. It takes a very long time to really discover our own personality, and who we can/can't relate to.

I second wavesurf saying it's ok to submit a list you aren't completely sure about. However you decide to rank them it will still reflect your opinion. :)

My favorites are determined by the sort of personality they have and also how much I can connect to them on a personal level.

But it's not like everybody has to determine their favorites the way I do :)

In my country there are clear favorites. We do not like darker girls so that is no to most of them. But we still like dark hair although light hair is also nice but it does not look good on our skins. Also only the most popular movie princesses are known and they are all classic princesses and fairy tale ones. There is lots of violence in my country against women so we like the classic princesses because they give us hope and inspire us to dream and take command of our lives and not be hurt by men. We like to dream and like the big musical songs and pretty dresses. So my favorites are Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, and Rapunzel. Pocahontas is not known much in my country and it is offensive that she is called Indian when she is not real Indian. Mulan is liked though because she is a good example of how Asian girls should act towards their parents and we are close to China and like them. So Mulan is liked a lot. Pocahontas to a lesser extent but not many remember how now. Back many years ago when the movie was still new, she was better remembered. Also she is too serious and her clothes are not colorful and pretty enough for her to be liked. Her looks are also strange and my country does not like how weird her face is. Tiana is not known at all and my country does not like dark people so she is the most hated. Also no one here has watched her movie. Merida is better known but she does not sing or have a prince so little girls here do not like her very much. We like real princesses and not this fake one who does not act like a princess. If we want real life, we would not watch movies.
