Disney Princess Question

MAJOR LOOPHOLE IN THE LITTLE MERMAID.

I love The Little Mermaid, and since I'm such a loser I'm watching it right now(while my school is out partying) and, so you know how Ariel signs her name on Ursula's contract? Well, then she obviously knows how to write, right? At least her name! So when Eric asked her, she could've wrote it out with a stick or something! And if he knew how to write, she could've explained the whole situation! Yeah, the movie would be really boring that way, but I just had to point it out.

I thought of the same thing several times while watching the movie.

So, let me get this straight. You want Ariel to write to Eric (who doesn't believe mermaids exist)
"Dear Eric. Hi. I am a mermaid who sold her voice to become human and the only way I can stay human is if you kiss me in the next 3 days, so how about we smooch now and save the time? Thanks, Ariel."

HE WOULD THINK SHE WAS A NUTJOB.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Write her name yes, but if she told the whole story it would ger her a one way trip to the NUTHOUSE!

I think that Eric would have beleived her if she wrote down that she was the girl who saved him, because remember, he thought it was her in the first place. "I knew it, you're the one! The one Ive been looking for!"

I suppose she could've written her name. Unless the pen she used to sign the contract was magical and wrote the name of whoever was holding it or something.

But she might have only known how to write her name, and nothing else, in which case she wouldn't be able to explain to Eric through writing. That or she just didn't think to write anything. Who knows.

I see where you're coming from. I don't know if that would've been fair with the deal she made with Ursula...I mean, I know Ursula was trying to trick her to ultimately get to King Triton and take over as ruler of the seas, but the point of the deal was for Ariel to make Eric fall in love with her...I think if she would've wrote down who she was and all of that it would've been considered cheating on her deal....

Yeah, that's true. & I don't think Ariel would be the one to cheat on a legal binding. She probably was just so caught up in Eric, she forgot(:

Maybe Ariel is too excited to think that she can write to explain her name and her background to Eric.
