How do mermaids reproduce?

Lol, yeah I noticed. Idk, it's Disney I really dont think they would explain that sort of thing.

So, I'm going to answer the logical way.

Serious answer: They lay eggs. It only makes sense since that's what fish do and what's the bottom half of the mermaid? Fish. There must be a flap of scales concealing mermaids' cloaca (would explain how they piss too). Once she lays her eggs, the merman comes along and fertilizes them with his sperm. But, unlike fish, mermaids breast-feed, like mammals. They have boobs after all, the whole purpose of which is to produce milk so they must breast-feed.

I love that we're thinking about mermaids logically. Nothing about a mermaid is plausible or logical. The mermaids we see in Disney do not have gills, so we're assuming they have lungs, since they have the upper bodies of humans, but that makes absolutely no sense, so their reproductive organs probably make the same amount of sense.

I first asked my mom that question when I was six and was promptly told to go to my room and I shouldn't be thinking such things. I guess she thought I was thinking about sex, but I wasn't. (does that even make sense?) I used to wonder how they could eat and not have to use the bathroom too. Weird. I guess they're an exception to the rules of life.

Mermaids are supposed to be a species of fish. So they would reproduce the same way fish reproduce... by laying eggs or through live bearing.

I guess they come out of eggs. *shrugs* I'd like to think that mermaids give birth like mammals, like whales and dolphins do. But now I think Ariel and her sisters came out of eggs like fish do.

I never thought of this.
But I will say this. Because they're half human and half fish. Humans and whales are mammal so Merfolk reproduce babies the same way we, dolphins and whales do by live bearing.

They unsrew their belly buttons and an egg pops out. The guy spits on it and bam it's a fertilized egg. A couple months later it hatches and you have a baby mermaid!

Fish reproduce by having the female lay eggs then the male releases a cloud of sperm that goes to the eggs and fertilizes them.

I think it be more like dolphins and not fish. Like swimming on top of each other. Ariel is we assume romantically and seggualy attracted to the prince, fish don't have that because they don't have seggs. Yes she has scales but shes a magical creature. So yeah.
