t was young Hiccup Haddock's 7nth birthday, and was dreading it. His father was mad at him again, and yelled at Hiccup to get the fire wood. It had been seven years since his mother's passing, and that was when his father was so uptight.
Hiccup was mumbling to himself about not being the perfect son. Instead of having huge mussels, he had a huge brain instead
The winter chill became more unbearable, but he still was still going to get to the firewood. He thought to himself, and thought about the legend of Jack Frost from his mother's old battered up books that smelled like Old Viking Ivan. He thought that Jack would understand him, and he would comfort him. So Hiccup whispered in the cold night," I believe in you Jack Frost!
" Automatically like magic, Hiccup saw him. "Your... your Jack Frost!" Jack nodded enthusiastically," You, you can see me?" Hiccup nodded in surprise. How could he see this mythical person. "Your real?" Hiccup asked. "Yes, I am very real! You are one of the very few people who can see me,"Jack smiled,"Besides, it's your birthday. Here have this." Jack handed Hiccup a notebook. "I heard that you were very smart, so take it." "You actually care? My father wouldn't care of I were taken by stupid dragons, and I'm scrawny! I will never fit in!" Jack chuckled,"You are special Hiccup. Maybe this notebook will help you." Hiccup took it, and Jack then exclaimed,"Oh, and one more thing, here!" Jack handed Hiccup the firewood.
"Can I please, please stay with you? Father will never accept me!" Hiccup was almost whining. "Oh Hic, here, you can sit with me,and write something down in your notebook before you catch a cold." Hiccup obediently sat down with Jack. He gleefully drew his own invention," Than you, Jack!" Jack smiled, and waved him off.
"Father, father, here's the firewood!" Hiccup handed to his father, and with it, the notebook. "Finally,"he found the notebook," What's this?" He opened the notebook, and saw the invention. "Hiccup, you could be useful. Your going to be an apprentice tomorrow, and-" "How you going to do that?" Hiccup interrupted. "I'll get you hooked up with someone tonight, Happy birthday Hiccup."
Hiccup felt something warm growing inside of him. His father never said that to him before. He was exited about tomorrow, not for the apprenticeship, but from what his father said. Once again, Hiccup said,"Thank you,Jack Frost."
