In the first book he said its his first year at middle school,so he was 6th grader that time,but Rodrick Rules takes place the next year after the first one,he is in 7th grade till Ugly Truth,he is in his last year of 7th Grade in The Third Wheel,he might also be in 8th grade,but there are children at his middle school which are a year elder then him so he must be 7th Grader.
