I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Keeping up with the Kaplan's - Move Nourish Believe
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
They sing, they dance, they act… and above all else, they MNB all day, eyry’day! Yep, we’re talking about The Kaplan Sisters, three ridiculously talented little ladies who are all passionate about Active Living and practice what they preach. If you’re wondering why they look so familiar, chances are you’ve caught one of them on TV, and collectively they boast amazing roles on Neighbours, Dance Academy, City Homicide, The Saddle Club as well as a whole host of stage shows and dance companies around the world (talent must literally be in the Kaplan DNA). As ambassadors for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea (28th of May FYI) while prying into they’re menu for the day (which is MNB approved of course), we thought it was the perfect time to find out more ways these beauties Move, Nourish and Believe…
“We are basically the Australian version of the Kardashians… only normal, boring and not as glamorous” – Dena Kaplan
Have you always been interested in health and wellness or was there an ‘uh-huh’ moment?
G: I‘ve always been a vegetarian (because I adore animals) and we’ve always eaten well at home – my mum always had fresh vegetables and wholesome food in the house. As for exercise, I suppose we always danced as kids so exercise has always been a part of our lives. I have also always LOVED swimming and then I started running a few years ago.
A: I definitely wasn’t interested in health and wellness growing up. I danced, but besides that I would avoid any form of exercise and pretty much lived off hot chips and pasta. As I got older I developed a serious passion for it. I‘m now utterly obsessed with exercising (it’s basically the main thing I talk/think about haha) and I adore eating a healthy, balanced vegan diet.
D: I have always been very health focused as I started off as a ballet dancer so from a very young age there was always a huge focus on health and nutrition.
What are three of your ‘can’t live without’ foods?
G: Bread, dark chocolate (over 80% cocoa), Ginger Tea… oh and My Soy Latte (I figure they are drinks so I can get two)
A: Sweet potato, oats, peanut butter, banana
What does a day on your plate look like?
Breakfast: Protein Shake which I usually add lots of coconut water and nut butters
Dinner: My favourite thing to do is fry mushrooms in coconut oil with lime, basil and pink Himalayan sea salt and have it with a big tomato and basil salad and some toast
My meals are pretty small generally but I snack all day long on fruit and nuts and all sorts of healthy snacks. I’m famous for my constant snacking.
A: Breakfast: Oatmeal with banana, cinnamon, peanut butter.
Lunch: Some sort of salad with quinoa, broccoli, beans, nuts etc and balsamic dressing.
Dinner: Stir fry of carrot, broccoli, cauliflower, pumpkin, sweet potato, capsicum with tofu and homemade satay sauce.
Dessert: Protein ice cream/smoothie (made of banana, protein powder, peanut butter, ice, water, stevia).
Snacks: Carrots with hummus, corn thins, raw chocolate, dates with nut butter, fruit fruit and more fruit!
D: Breakfast: Egg white omelette with heaps of veggies and avo plus green tea
Lunch:Tuna salad lots of veg and nuts and seeds with balsamic vinegar
Dinner: Grilled Salmon/Steak/Chicken with broccoli green beans and pumpkin
Snack: Almonds. Carrots. Cottage Cheese. Cacao balls (I make really good ones)
1 heaped teaspoon of gluten free baking powder
Beat the eggs, oil, dates, banana, baking powder, vanilla together .
Add the chia seeds, flour, ginger and cinnamon and mix through till combined.
Transfer to baking paper lined loaf tin and let it sit for 5 mins to allow the chia seeds to expand.
Pop it in the oven for 45-50 mins. Remove and let stand till cool enough to remove from the tin without burning yourself!
