Cinders The top one percent of Americans makes around two million dollars a year. The top twenty percent don't even make half a million a year. With the top one percent making more than three times more than the top twenty percent, how can we be quibbling over the wages and benefits of the bottom twenty, and blame them for the deficit? I mean... honestly, this is just disgusting. And Fox News, with their deep pockets and loud mouths, dares to call teachers "greedy."

Cinders [I know you meant Orwell, but] I WISH it was 1984 (the year). Back then, the top one percent were only making half a million, and the gap was significantly smaller. And yet, as they earn more, our economy gets worse. I've said it time and again, I'm no economist, I admit, I don't understand it and I never will, but there's something fishy about that correlation to me.

Excerpt: A Republican Veteran Tells A Stranger About the War

This is an excerpt from a not-so-short story I wrote a while back (Kegel, you ought to recognize it pretty fast). The character of Simon is heavily based on a man I met randomly at my college one year, and the views expressed echo some of his thoughts almost exactly.
