DC Comics Question

I want to get into DC comics.

Ok so I've been wanting to get into DC comics for the past couple years or so XD. I was looking into them but the continuity is so confusing. I like Batman, JL, green lantern and superman comics. and also the big events like the crises. I already read crisis on infinite earths but not sure what to read next.I also read Batman Year One. Has there been another big event like Final Crises though? I pretty much want to catch up to the present state of comics which I am clueless of. The last big event that I heard of was Final Crises so yeah... Lots of questions.

Thanks.

Now is a good time to get into any series you like since the whole universe was rebooted nine months ago

OK, so first off, believe NOTHING anyone tells you about how "starting to read DC now because of the reboot is great", because straight up, IT'S NOT. As a person who has also recently began reading comics, I've got to tell you to look back before the New 52, because otherwise you will never know the old history. Plus, the New 52 messed up soooo much, (such as Stephanie Brown and Cass Cain not existing) and you DO NOT want to miss out on all the awesome parts of DC's past.
Luckily for you, Convergence will be coming out in spring, and because it is a major event, it shouldn't require you to read anything else besides the actual series in order to understand it. :3
Good luck with comic reading, and if you're female, then take an extra heap of luck (for all the greasballs who will try to flirt with you in comic book shops :P)
