I think that DE will always have those things because they will have been through a lot together, they are passionate, emotional and stubborn people when together. DE bond is much deeper, passionate and angsty than a regular BF/GF label. Damon is not the BF type and Elena wil have grown out of that type of light relationship label. Plus I don't want them to be drifting, just hanging and hooking up. THAT is not the type of relationship that DE has or will have when they get together.
