I think this episode shows that , there were many times where elena wanted to kiss damon ,but she controlled herself but this time she couldnt take it anymore and she kissed him ,it also showed that elenas feelings towards damon has come to such an extent that she doesnt even care about stefans feelings anymore , i mean cmon can you even imagine her doing what she did in season1 , it also showed that elena too loves damon because this time she kissed him first and he did kiss her first,it was like confirming it for the fans
