Jeremy and Stefan seem to brood constantly and it just grates on people; about how tortured they are, how difficult things are, how they need this and need that.. they remind me of little kids who need attention, and then switch to "Mr Know-it-all" and then telling other people how things are. They're a martyr to themselves and it's very, VERY annoying.

With Damon it's different. If he's faced with a problem he deals with it in a variety of ways; he can be sarcastic, straight-talking, manipulative, angry, funny, emotional, drunk off his face - we get a range of emotion from him and that's why it's bearable. Jeremy and Stefan are on a constant loop of brooding bullshit. Damon brings some variety. He's unpredictable. And that's why people accept him in every which way ;-)

Jeremy WAS emo in season 1...even Jenna said he needed "to lose some of that emo thing". Meaning it is something the writers intended so it's not like the fans just made it up.
And yeah like you said Caroline even said Stefan's too serious and has 1 face for everything. And Paul himself said he would try to "brood less" this season.
Damon on the other hand is an emotional roller coaster. He rips Mason's heart out without blinking and literally 2 episodes later he's telling Elena that he loves her and even sheds a tear. Damon IS complex and people need to stop being so jealous that he gets the attention of fans.

damon is NEVER broody....only when it comes to important things like ohh idk being told twice that u have never been loved....i think that he can brood IF HE WANTS TO!
