Chapter 7: The Mission is Announced
Mac and Stella woke up to the rising sun and quickly got dressed then made their way back to the barracks. They stopped outside of the Manning Barracks where Stella and the other women on Blue Squad lived. Mac wrapped his arms around Stella and looked into her eyes.
"Last night was amazing Stella, thank you for sharing it with me."
"Thank you too Mac it was wonderful I can't wait to do it again. So its 06:20 right now and we have the meeting at 08:00 to learn what our big undercover mission is going to be I can't wait. Isn't this so exciting?"
"Well I don't quite share you're enthusiasm but yeah it's exciting enough. I just hope everything goes as planned."
"Don't worry Mac you are going to be a fantastic leader. The squad is lucky to have you."
Mac smiled at Stella and kissed her.
"Well you know what they say… behind every fantastic man is an even more fantastic woman."
"Mac you're too good to me well come on soldier lets go get ready for our meeting."
The two departed and headed off to their barracks. Stella walked inside to a lobby full of ten curious eyes staring at her as she walked in. The other five members of Blue Squad were all awake and dressed in their pajamas ready to grill Stella about where she had been all night. Stella blushed and tried to walk into her room. Aiden jumped off of the couch and barricaded herself in front of the room and Stella.
"Not so fast missy where have you been?"
"No… nowhere, Aiden get out of my way."
Aiden was joined by Lindsay and Sam.
"Not a chance Stella, spill, where were you all night? You never came back after we left the guys barracks last night." Lindsay said.
Kendall and Jess joined the girls in front of Stella and demanded to know where she had been.
"Guys really it's none of your business I was just…out!"
"Stel, there are no secrets among friends now tell us where you were or we'll be obligated to make up our own stories and spread them across the base.
That was it Stella felt trapped. She rolled her eyes and then began to speak.
"God! Fine if you must know Mac and I spent the night together in his secret place and we had hot, mind blowing sex all night long. There, happy?"
Sam and Lindsay shook their heads, Jess and Kendall's jaws dropped, and Aiden started to clap and squeal in delight.
"Pay up ladies. I told you that make out session was just a glimpse of what was to come!"
The rest of the girls groaned and each handed Aiden twenty five bucks.
"What the hell? You guys bet on me? Jess you're supposed to be my best friend and you let this go on?"
Jess started laughing.
"I'm sorry Stella but none of us thought that you and Mac would do something so out of character for the both of you. We just knew Aiden was wrong but apparently her Mac and Stella Radar is dead on. It's just for fun don't be offended."
"Well Aiden fifty of those one hundred dollars you just made is mine since if it wasn't for me you wouldn't have made anything."
"Not a chance Bonasera this is my money."
Stella started to chase Aiden around the room and tackled her to the ground trying to get the money. Suddenly there was a loud knock on the door and all of the girls straightened up and Stella let Aiden up. They got into normal positions and Kendall answered the door. Lieutenant Erin Sanders walked in and greeted the women.
"Good morning ladies how did your weekend go?"
"Great Coach Sanders what brings you by this morning?"
"Well Miss Monroe I was just going to brief you all on the game and go over some of the plays before you all meet with the rest of the members of blue squad and red squad for your big upcoming mission."
Sanders and the ladies of Blue Squad all gathered around and discussed the night's game.
"Alright ladies well good luck on your mission and bring everything you've got to tonight's game. Oh Bonasera could you and I have a word in private please?"
Stella's heart skipped a beat but she went with the coach outside of the barracks. She was sure she was going to get the bench tonight for not performing better at the last game.
"What's up coach?" Stella asked trying to sound confident.
"Well Stella I was in the ladies room yesterday after all of you had left for the barracks and I heard Driscoll, Hunter, and Shelby having a rather ugly discussion and you were the topic."
"Coach Sanders I can explain I know I shouldn't have attacked Peyton after the game but she provoked me. I know I didn't play well during the last game but Pey…"
"Stella relax I'm not getting on to you or benching you even though you and I both know you could have played better during the last game. I know that blue and red squad as a whole are a team but I also know there is a rivalry between the two squads one that starts with you and Driscoll. Stella you're one of the strongest and best soldiers on this base that put a lot of the men to shame. I know Monroe is the Team Captain but the fact is all the girls on Blue Squad look up to you and rely on you to lead them. I'm just saying save that hostile anger towards Driscoll for the court. Stella I really enjoy getting to work with you and you remind me a lot of how I was when I was your age. Please don't let the other team get you to do something drastic that could hurt your career. Now bring all you've got tonight and wipe that smug smirk off the little British tart's face."
"Thanks coach I'm glad to know you have my back."
"Always Stella I meant what I said now good luck tonight and with your upcoming mission you're going to be a great leader Bonasera."
Lieutenant Sanders left the barracks and headed off to her quarters. Stella went back inside the barracks to get ready for the meeting with General Sinclair.
"Hey Stell what was that all about?"
"Nothing Aiden coach just wanted to talk to me about some things I need to improve on and look out for at tonight's game she also wanted to wish me luck on this mission. Come on ladies let's get ready the meeting starts in about an hour."
All of the women got dressed and ready for the briefing and met outside the Base Auditorium at 07:45. Some of the members from Red Squad came walking up to them and Peyton glared at Stella who just glared right back. Jess noticed and grabbed Stella's arm.
"Let it go Stell, you promised!"
"I know Jess I'm not going to do anything she just really gets under my skin."
"Well save that anger for tonight."
The guys from both red and blue squads showed up and they all filled in to the auditorium to be briefed on their mission. General Sinclair walked up to the podium in the front of the auditorium followed by Colonel Gerard who stood beside him as he started his speech.
"Good morning ladies and gentlemen I hope you all had a good weekend. Well let's get straight to business. Colonel Gerard and I have called you all here to discuss the details of your upcoming undercover mission which will go underway in one week's time. For about the past five years many residents of Fort Bennet have been either attacked or robbed by members of a high profile gang which goes by the name of The Beindorf Crime Family. Last month the gang stepped it up a notch by killing four civilians in cold blood at a convenient store. One victim was a teenage girl and the other three were store clerks working that night. The teenage victim, Brianna Rutherford was from a very rich and influential family in Fort Bennett and is believed to be the first of many victims. The convenient store clerks were collateral damage. At the scene of the crime the police recovered a note saying Miss Rutherford was the first of a long list of victims. The mayor of the town had a meeting with me two days after the killings and we agreed to put together a team of undercover agents to protect the youth of Fort Bennett. What we came up with was this. The town has been building a new high school and have arranged to employee twenty- four new teachers this year along with a few members of the old staff. That is where you all come in. You have all had five months of undercover training before becoming members of this elite team now that training will be put to use. You will each be serving undercover as high school teachers and each of your talents will be used in what you teach. We have packets containing your aliases, your subject you will be teaching, and other information you will need for this mission. It is believed that The Beindorf Family is targeting many of the youth at Fort Bennett High School so that is why you all will be serving there. Anything suspicious or anything that brings up questions will be addressed and we will do all we can to bring this family of criminals to justice. Taylor, Mala, Bonasera, and Driscoll will remain to be further briefed, the rest of you are dismissed. Please pick up your packets before leaving the auditorium.
"Holy crap Mac I knew it was going to be big but this is bad. I've heard about the Beindorf Family and they are not your average street gang they put some of the most notorious crime families of the fifties and sixties to shame. To top it all off their killing kids. My God I don't know if I can do this."
"It's going to be rough but you'll be great Stella those kids are going to love you. Damn didn't see this coming though. This is huge."
"Alright Taylor and Mala you two are in charge. Taylor of Blue Squad and Mala of Red Squad. You will hold several meeting s with your squads throughout the week to discuss the mission and pass along any information Colonel Gerard or I give to you. Taylor, you and Bonasera are not only going undercover as teachers but also as a married couple. Your packets include a marriage certificate and rings for the both of you. Mala and Driscoll you will be undercover as a couple who are engaged you too have engagement rings to make you look legit. We trust the four of you will do a great job at leading your teams and bringing these criminals to justice. We will keep you posted with any new information. Dismissed."
Mac, Stella, Frankie, and Peyton all got up and walked out of the auditorium with their packets in their hands. Stella opened her packet and read over the first paper.
"Wow so I'm going to be teaching Biology to tenth graders and I get to be the Dance Team Director. I believe I'm going to enjoy this mission not to mention I get to pretend like I'm married to you. Mr…. Mark Harris!"
Mac smiled and read his papers.
"Well I will be teaching twelfth grade Government and Economics and coaching the varsity football team. This could be interesting, Mrs. Allie Harris."
"Well I'm not a big fan of the name but this is going to be so cool until the gang infiltrates the high school then it could get really ugly. However I am looking forward to seeing you all sweaty in your gym clothes."
"Easy Bonasera! Okay let's gather up the squad and have a meeting about this mission I'm anxious to see how this is all going to play out."
They each went back to their barracks and gathered up the team for a brief meeting.
