Does he like me? Or am I "just a friend"?

Okay, so me and my guy friend (we're in junior high) we're not that close, but pretty close.
Some of my gal friends claim that he's crushing on me, by saying that he stares at me sometimes, and he's really sweet and nice to me, yet he can be really rude and harsh towards my gal friends.
So...IS he crushing on me? I'm really confused, and I don't want to ruin our friendship.
And also, one of my close gal friends said that she would just randomly pop up out of nowhere and say that "(Insert name here) likes (insert name here)" and will try and see if my guy friend will blush or not.
Should I let her do it? Would any of this ruin my friendship??? I need help!
