Have you tried talking to your friend about him? I know that she might get upset, but this is a chance that you have to take. If he HIT you, that's pretty serious. If you find that she still doesn't care, even if you talk to her, there's honestly nothing much you can do. It's all up to your friend to handle her boyfriend. I say to take a break from them for a while. Try not to stick around when your best friend is with her boyfriend. A hello is fine, but try not to get too clsoe to him or anything. He doesn't sound liek a good guy, at all, and it would probably be best not to get involved with his business much.

Also, another point I would like to make, since you said that he insults people and hurts people, this could be a sign that he could turn out to be abusive toward your friend. This jerk-offs are no good. I say she needs to send him packing, but like I said earlier, it's all her desicion. You can have a gentle talk with her, and is she's really your best friend, she will understand.

Well first of all: She probably isn't a real friend if she didn't care that he hit you. Second: Just try to stay away from them when they're together and if you wanna hang out ask if she could not bring him
