Newbie needs advice

I want to cosplay for a Convention in the summer but the character I want to dress up as has black hair and I don't want to change my haircolor, So Is it a horrible crime to have another hair color and do I need to add a wig to the list of materials to get?

You Pretty much need to buy a wig. i buy mine on ebay. whos u dressing as? u can buy one at a party store or halloween store as well

I've gotten all but one of my wigs from there. They're very nice as far as quality goes! The only things to keep in mind is the shipping is free but takes a long time and sometimes the wigs color is a little darker in person than it is in the pictures (though color varies from monitor to monitor...) but that's not a problem for black hair.
