Numbuh 4 was practicing for the game on Saturday. It was a Kacey's house, cuz if it weren't for Kacey, none of these people would know each other. He had his whole team. He began pitching balls to Kacey.
Three out of four home-runs.
“Wow, even I can’t do that well.” Wally would always tell her.
Wally threw one to David. Ouch.
It hid Wally in the head.
“Are you OK?” David went up to Wally.
“I’m fine, except for this BIG BRUISE ON MY HEAD!” Wally yelled.
Then, he threw one to Christian. It went far.
Same thing for Megan, Hoagie, Raleigh, Kiki, and Abby.
Then, it was Wally’s turn to bat. Megan pitched.
Usually, Kacey’s the catcher. But she decided to pass on this one while Megan pitched. Just to be on the safe side.
So Hoagie offered to be the catcher.
Megan pulled her arm back, then let that ball fly!
Then, things went terribly wrong.
The ball flew passed Wally, and nailed Hoagie right in the arm. He fell over.
"Omigod, Hoagie!" Megan ran up to him. "Are you OK?"
Blood trickled down Hoagie's arm. "OW!" He said.
"Is he hurt?" David asked.
"No, I'm just peachy!" Hoagie screamed.
"Calm down." Kacey said. "I'll get my Mom to take you to Urgent Care."
Hoagie was driven to Urgent Care, and the practicing had to continue without him.
"Aw, man." Megan said. "What if Hoagie's hurt badly?"
"Megan's right, we need someone to replace him." Raleigh said.
"The final game before the Championship is tomorrow! We can't be down a player!" Kacey exclaimed.
"Calm down, guys." Wally said. "I'll think of a way."
"You better!" Abby said. "Numbuh 5 ain't gonna lose this game."
"Hey guys!" Emma opened the gate to Kacey's backyard.
"We're saved!" Christian said.
"Why...?" Emma asked.
"We're down a player for our Minor League Baseball team." Abby said.
"MINOR LEAGUE? As in on TV?" Emma asked.
"Yup." Raleigh said.
"Wow." Emma said. "But I can't join."
"Why not?" Raleigh asked.
"I'm good as baseball, it's just that I'm camera shy." Emma explained.
"We're doomed." Christian said.
"But if ya want, I'll be your manager!" Emma said.
"OK, but we still need another player." Kiki said.
Emma thought for a bit. "Well, what about-?"
"Hey, Wally!" Kuki called.
"Oh, no." Kacey facepalmed.
"Kuki, please go away right now." Wally said.
"But why my Luvey Duvey Wuvey Wally?" Kuki asked.
The team snickered.
"Kuki! I'm trying to lead a baseball team here!" Wally said.
"Wally, I'm sorry..." Kuki said.
"Kuki, don't take it that way." Wally said.
"Awe! Is the CUTE little couple gonna cry?" Raleigh mocked.
"Shut up." Wally muttered.
"Fine. I'll leave." Kuki said.
Wally sighed. "What did you want?"
"For you to watch a movie with me!" Kuki said.
"My team is practicing." Wally said. "Maybe later."
"But it's your chance to fake yawn so you can put your arm around me!" Kuki said.
Wally's cheeks turned red. "LATER!"
"Please, my Luvey Duvey Wuvey Wally?" Kuki pleaded.
The 6th Graders were on the floor laughing now.
"Shut up, guys!" Wally yelled. "Kuki, LATER!"
"Wait!" Emma yelled over all the racket.
"What?" Everyone asked.
"Wally, pitch a ball to Kuki. Kuki grab the bat." Emma said.
Everyone shrugged. But they did as they were told.
Wally pitched a ball, and Kuki swung the bat.
The ball went farther than Kacey could ever hit.
"Whoa..." Everyone said in awe.
Emma crossed her arms and smirked. "Kuki, welcome to the team."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Ooh!" Kuki said. "Now that I'm on the team, can I pick the name? The Hyenas is just a bland name."
"Hyenas are awesome!" Kacey said. "I picked the name. I won Rock Paper Scissors against Raleigh."
"I wanted The Herbs." Raleigh pouted.
"But the Rainbow Monkeys is a lot cuter!" Kuki said.
"HYENAS ARE CUTER THAN YOU'LL EVER BE!" Kacey yelled.
"THAT'S NOT TRUE!" Kuki said.
"She's right." Wally said, blushing.
Kacey growled at him.
"OK, quit arguing!" Abby yelled.
"Gosh, it's not that important, is it?" Christian asked.
David shrugged.
"We have a huge game tomorrow, guys!" Emma said. "Play a practice game!"
"But Kuki won't do what we say." Kacey said.
"You guys aren't the boss." Wally said. "I am."
"Even worse." Kacey muttered.
"Focus!" Emma said.
The kids played a game, but Kuki brought up something stupid everytime.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning, the kids took the bus to Chase Field. This is usually where the Arizona Diamondbacks usually play, but it was used for today's Minor League game.
The kids were mistaken for a group of kids from a field trip. But the manager of the baseball field told the man the truth.
They were directed to their section. Everyone as in their purple and green uniforms, but Kuki bedazzled hers.
Everyone was their KND number. The opposite team was called the Pandas.
"LAAAAAAAAAAME." David said.
"HYENAS RULE!" Kacey shouted.
Soon, the game began. Wally's team pitched first.
"We're gonna kick your A DOUBLE DOLLAR SIGNS!" Raleigh shouted.
"YA!" Kacey agreed.
The game flew by, and the Hyenas won.
The Pandas felt stupid since they just lost to a bunch of kids.
Emma cheered up at the top of the stadium. Everyone else up there thought she was crazy.
After the game, the Hyenas went out for pizza.
"Mmmmm........." Kacey and Raleigh nommed their pizza.
“Wow! We’re going to the championship!” Wally exclaimed.
“But we couldn’t have done it without you, Wally!” Kuki hugged Wally.
“Please we’re eating.” Raleigh said.
“Don’t ruin the moment.” Kacey said, sipping her soda.
“I’m not gonna barf.” David prayed.
“Shut up, guys.” Wally said.
“Just be glad we’re going to the Championship.” Abby said.
“Ya.” Emma was messing around on her phone. “We’ve got a scheduled interview for you guys on Sports Nation tomorrow. Then our next game is on Tuesday.”
“TUESDAY?” Wally screamed. “THAT’S LIKE FIFTY KABILLION DAYS AWAY!”
“It’s only Wednesday.” Christian said.
“Ya, that’s only 6 days away.” Megan said.
“Oh.” Wally said.
“He’s got captain’s madness.” Kacey giggled.
“What’s that?” Kiki asked.
“When the captain of a team goes completely nuts about games.” David said.
“It’s especially common during championships.” Raleigh added.
“Where’s our next game at?” Megan asked.
“Umm…. Denver. Where the Colorado Rockies play.” Emma said.
“Cool. Denver’s awesome.” Kacey said.
“Let’s head to where Sports Nation shoots.” Emma said.
Three out of four home-runs.
