Many people assume Oscar O'Sullivan-Hughes' cane is just a toy and brush past him.

When impatient shoppers see little Oscar O'Sullivan-Hughes using his white cane, they assume it is just a toy and tut disapprovingly at him.

But two-year-old Oscar was actually left blind at birth due to a rare genetic defect.

Now his parents have spoken out to raise awareness of child blindness.

Disaster relief organizations are mobilizing to aid Haiti - and are asking or help. Funds are needed to provide enough safe water, temporary shelter and vital medical supplies.

UNICEF and Save the Children already have emergency teams in Haiti, and the Red Cross has released $200,000 in disaster funds.

Children in West and Central Africa are suffering extreme psychological trauma as a result of civil war, AIDS and child trafficking, reveals a new Plan report.

The unique study psychologically assessed more than 1,000 children and young people chosen at random in affected communities in Liberia, Togo, Sierra Leone, Cameroon and Burkina Faso.

1. Go bowling, for every strike, donate $10 to a poor community.

2. Pick litter up and recylce and give all the money to a charity.

3. Donate old thing that you don't need anymore.

4. Old pair of glasses? Donate to kids who need it. That also goes for prosthtit(soory can't spell that) legs and arms.

5. Donate books to a local charity.

6. Donate blood.

7. Don't use your fireplace soo much. Easily use it for warmth? Use something else. Such as a heater, a warm bath...

8. Use less water in baths, you can save over 100 gallons.

9. Buy products that can help with poor communties.

10. If you see heart donations or other things where you sign your name, buy more then one!
