Anastasia and Dimitri are a cliche and rushed couple. They start off not being able to stand each other and constantly bickering, she changes her hair and puts on a dress so he starts to fall in love with her out of no where, they have dilemmas where they want to admit they love each other even though we don't really see that they have anything in common or any chemistry, we have that stupid liar reveal cliche, they decide they're better off without each other, they decide to get together after the climax, and Anastasia leaves her grandmother for this bum. The biggest problem with Anastasia is Dimitri and the romance between him and Anya. Neither him or the couple is very well developed, we go through a contrived and not very well-written romance, a stupid liar reveal cliche, and it makes Anya look bad because she leaves her grandmother that she had been searching for her whole life for a conman she only knew a few days.

Odette and Derek actually grew up together and are a very realistic couple. They starts off as kids that can't stand each other, when they're preteens Odette starts to develop some interest in Derek (despite him treating her badly), when they're teenagers Derek starts to sort of like her but hides it, and when they're adults they mature and fall in love. This couple shows that you need to appreciate the people in your life and never be afraid to express yourself, otherwise you'll probably lose them. Derek learns that he needs to express himself to break the spell but still is afraid to and just focuses on Odette's looks, which causes her death. It's so sad when he's blames himself for causing her death and not telling her how he feels about her. It's only when he finally tells what he loves about her besides her looks that the two of them are finally able to be together.

Despite the fact that I don't care much for Dimitri I do like them as a couple, huh.

But Odette and Derek are cute as well. i like how the sequels focus on their relationship as a married couple and how their love matures from the first film.

Despite their flaws, I think they work well together. It helps that they grew up knowing each other.

Odette and Derek may not have the most defined personalities but I always thought they were cute. Yes, Odette does weirdly see to forget that she was mad at Derek but I think her relief at finally being free and seeing he really did care overrode that. And yes, they grew up together which really helped.

All these Swan Princess polls are making me really want to watch the movie but my DVD disappeared. :( No idea where I could've lost it.

I personally think that they have very well-defined and three-dimensional personalities, especially Odette. Considering Odette didn't have many options at this point, Derek was her best option for the spell being broken. But I could tell from subtle hints that they always secretly liked each other and just expressed it the way immature kids and dumb teenagers that aren't mature enough to express their real feelings (Which continued with Derek). The makes of this movie really understood how kids with crushes on each other acted lol. Besides, what broke the spell and brought Odette back to life was Derek making a vow of everlasting love and proving it to HIS world, Odette, by finally overcoming his awkwardness with expressing his feelings and telling her what he always loved about her besides her beauty (Lets face it, complimenting someone on their good looks is very easy to do even for awkward people that have trouble expressing their feelings). Puffin even said himself "Well... There you have it... Everlasting love..."

You really need to find a way to watch it because it's always a movie worth watching no matter what in my opinion.
