Chapter -3-
Cameron stood by the window, looking through the glass towards the city and the lights opened in such a late time of night. She has ignored all the music, laughter, and noise around her, though it was her party. House and Cuddy arranged a surprise party for her birthday, as a hopeless way to cheer her, and comfort her distracted mind. But their sweet gesture was turned down, as expected, with her unhappy face and tears full eyes. Of all the faces that were shown and all the people who appeared, she wanted to see one person, one face, Chase’s face.
Two weeks passed, she’s been very ill, mentally ill, and this was even more painful than the physical ill. She’s been a perfect example for a deeply wounded woman. She couldn’t concentrate on her work, for her presence between her collies was only for saying that she went to work, while she didn’t say nor did anything. Her body was with them but her heart and soul were travelling to Australia where Chase was. She was a fool when she thought that being far from Chase would help her get over him, but the truth was that all she did was thinking about him, missing him, longing to his embrace, to his touch, to his kiss, to his comforting words that no one else can say it but him.
‘What are you thinking about’ Cuddy interrupted her thoughts.
Cameron turned to her and didn’t answer immediately ‘Nothing, just looking at the view’
She took a sip from her wine and said calmly with a cold smile ‘We both know it’s not true’ She gazed at her glass and said ‘I know you are thinking about him’
Cameron turned to the window again and tried to suppress the tears which threatened to overwhelm her ‘I think I will never be over him’ She said with her voice trembling
‘Senseless’ Cuddy answered coolly ‘You will get over him, you just need someone to help you doing that.’
‘What do you mean?’ Cameron looked at her surprisingly ‘You want me to date someone else?’
‘Yes’ Cuddy replied with a low tone
‘Don’t you think it’s too early for such a step?’ Cameron said slowly
‘No, not in your way’ She answered quickly ‘Not in your case, however’
She said that then walked away leaving Cameron very much confused. There’s the her new neighbor whom moved recently and he showed a certain interest in her , he seems like a nice man, but she’s never really made it clear to him, she wanted to wait until she was completely over Chase. But is Cuddy right? Should she just throw herself in that man’s arms?
