Apart from my falling out with Alice, things started to get better. Albeit his vampire-ness, Carlisle really was a great boyfriend. I got a part time job at a local bakery while I contemplated my options. I had planned to work for a few more months, and then get back to school. Just when things started to work seamlessly, I came face to face with something that would alter those plans, drastically.
I tossed my keys in the bowl by my door and flipped the lock. Tonight was going to be a somewhat boring night. Carlisle was working night shift, and my friends were either with the boyfriend, family, or had previous engagements. “Great night for a movie.” I thought to myself. I headed into the kitchen where the calendar hung. I scribbled in dentist apt at noon to the little box marked the 4th. I frowned at the numbers on the wall. Counting backwards, I realized that I was several days late. I hadn’t really thought anything of it until now. “What happened to Bella almost killed her, so God help you if you weren’t being safe…” The shouting match with Alice echoed in my head. “No. Nonoononononononono.” I sat in the nearest chair, processing my revelation.
Four hours passed and I was still in the same spot. For awhile I was a wreck- deciding whether or not you should keep a baby isn’t the easiest thing to do but it wasn’t really a person, it was part monster, a trouble that this already fucked up world didn’t need. Now I was just determined to get rid of it. A lesser concern, but still an issue in itself is his family. In a few minutes time Alice, Jasper, or Edward’s gift will tip them off to my situation or I will have to explain myself. Rosalie will probably try to convince me to keep it and let her raise it, but once realizing that she can’t change my mind she just might tear me apart. A knocking at my door interrupted my train of thought. More insistent with each passing second. “Go away!” I yelled. The person gave up. Tick, tick, tick, the clock filled the empty silence. Something caught my eye. I looked up to see Alice standing in my kitchen. It didn’t rattle me; I knew she’d find another way in when I didn’t answer the door. “Would you like to explain to me why the hell I just had a vision of Carlisle ripping a child out of you?” I looked up to her, then back at my phone. “How long has it been?” I ignored her again. She was suddenly inches from my face. I had never seen her look quite so terrifying. “Almost two weeks.” I finally said. She sat back a bit. “Don’t make a decision so quickly. You know how much it would upset him if he has to take a life- especially if it is his child.” “What I do with it is none of your business. You came over to do what exactly, try to make me hold off on killing it in hopes that I will change my mind and it will just be happily fucking ever after like Edward and Bella? Not gonna happen. Just leave.” I glared at her. “I-“ She started. “Get out!” I snapped. She shook her head angrily and walked out. All of the sudden there was a horrible pain in my stomach, like someone was shredding my insides. I coughed, and then I pulled my hand away it was splattered with blood. “ohmygod.” I whispered. The room started spinning, and then slowly got darker until I was no longer conscious.
Alice’s POV
I was halfway to the door when the scent of blood hit me. I rushed back to the kitchen. Callie was unconscious on the table. I grabbed for my phone and dialed Carlisle. He picked up on the first ring. “Alice?” He asked. “Carlisle, you have to come home right now. Callie is pregnant, she just told me, and I was about to leave when she passed out. It looks like she has coughed up blood too. “Get her over to our house and wait for me in the study. I will be home in five minutes.” I hit call end and sprang into action. Those five minutes passed agonizingly slowly, but finally I heard Carlisle’s car pull into the driveway. He appeared at the door seconds later, medical bag in hand. “Edward, go up to my office and get several bags of B-, she’s going to need it. He rummaged through his bag and pulled out some morphine. Once he gave it to her, he turned to me. “There is going to be blood. Lots of it. Your help would be great, but if you cannot handle it you must leave, now. There is no more time to waste.” He waited for me decision. “I’m fine. What can I do to help?” I asked. “I need a scalpel and betadine.” I nodded. I got him what he needed, and stopped breathing, hoping it would be enough to stop me from trying to kill her. Carlisle sliced open her stomach. He wasn’t kidding when he said there was going to be a lot of blood. I sat by her head and tried to think of Callie as the friend she was and not the meal she could be. It helped a bit. We didn’t need a monitor to tell us that her heart was racing, on the verge of giving out. “Get it out and give it to me. I’ll destroy it while you change her.” Edward’s voice was cold, businesslike. Carlisle stopped in his tracks. “We can’t kill it.” He stated. “There is no other option. If this is anything like Renesmee, vampire child or not it won’t be far enough along.” There was an awful tearing sound, followed by a second heartbeat. We all froze. The impossible had happened. Somehow the fetus was far enough along to be living and functioning. Her heartbeat, now impossibly fast, set us all back into action. He handed the baby to Edward. He worked on closing up her stomach. “Bite her.” He instructed me. “What? I can’t!” The panic in my voice was obvious. “It cannot wait any longer. Just once, in the wrist so the venom can start to work. I will do the rest when I am finished here.” I nodded and grabbed her arm. I pushed back her sleeve. Cmon Alice. This is Callie. Don’t lose it now, I thought to myself. I took a deep breath and sank my teeth into her wrist. As soon as the taste hit me, all thoughts of friendship, humanity, love, anything flew out of my mind. The only thing I could think of was the taste. Hot and sweet, it had been years since I had human blood. I couldn’t stop myself. I gulped back huge swallows of it, slowly killing my friend. Carlisle, who’s hands were tied stiching her stomach up, was yelling at me to step away. I ignored him. Nothing but her blood mattered, and nothing would stop me from getting my fix. I was going to kill her, and no part of me wanted to stop.

Esme's POV
Ontario, Canada
8 years later
"Emmeline! Celestia! Stay close to mommy!" my voice was loud and powerful, the young girls listening to my every word. We entered the warm house and stripped of our coates and mittens, the snow layering the hard-wood floor.
"Ahh..love, your home." Carlisle came out of his study and gave us all a big hug. I still remembered the day when I got him back.
The heart-beats of us three were different, the girls more full.I was glad they had been full human, probably from the effect the antidote. But the baby I was carrying now, my sweet Benjamin, I was afraid he would be half, like me.
Carlisle kissed me and rubbed my swollen abdomen lovingly. No, everything would be okay.
~~~~
Benjamin came into the world perfect however, and all the children loved him. But something was in his eyes, someone lived on in him. And I knew exactly who.
