Because I couldn't stand Angel's character in seasons 1-3 of Buffy (conversely, I loved Angelus!), but he absolutely shines on his own show and now, he's one of my favorite characters in the Whedonverse. But yes, I agree, Angel's character on Buffy was a total snorefest. And I am not a fan of Bangel, however, I do prefer it to Spuffy. posted over a year ago.

I loved them at first but then their over-the-top lovey-doveyness started getting sickening and all of a sudden I found myself hating the both of them when they were together.
