I'm not voting, because I can't decide. These were both excellent examples. I think there was some total silence (no music even) when the Scoobies were trying to get together for Joyce's funeral. It kind of carried that numb feeling very well.

Very difficult pick. They are both seriously good episodes. 'Hush' still scares me and I actually can't watch 'The Body' because it makes me cry too much and I can't see the screen.

You just don't hear real silence like that on TV, that was what made it feel so authentic.

Even though i do think Hush was amazing with out any... It made The Body just perfect with just the backing music.

I LOVE them both but I just love how he took all his good reviews and thought 'these are all about the dialog, will they like it as well if I have none?'
And since hearing that story I have challenge myself to that many times in my own writing since everyone says the 'witty banter' is my strong sute too.

I think Hush was a little bit better because of the added challenge of getting the characters to communicate without speaking. All the silence builds up to Buffy's scream, and then you have the scene of Buffy and Riley being speechless at the end, even though their voices have returned, after having just learned each other's secret.
