Buffy the Vampire Slayer Do you think it's strange that Buffy was nearly killed by the first Turok-han but in chosen people like Dawn and Giles were able to beat them off?

I understand how Buffy and the other slayers were beating them in chosen. Buffy's a slayer and could adapt to their level of stregnth and they also had the scyth, but the first time Buffy met one it beat her half to death and yet Dawn, Xander, Robin and Giles can take them on? that really confused me. Could one of the people who understand explain it to me because I really feel like I missed something?

I read an interview with Joss saying that stakes could defeat simply to keep the story moving and how he was less worried about continuity then the overall ending

Really? huh, that's kind of annoying. They could have had some quick explination like a spell that makes them weaker or something.

Joss knows the fans always pick up on stuff like that, seems odd he'd leave something like that in and not address it at all.

It irked me slightly at first, but I just told myself that the necklace thingy Spike was wearing weakened them. I know it's not the official explination but it would have bugged me every time I watched it if I hadn't found a way to make it make sense lol

I've always thought it was because at the time Buffy had no idea what she was dealing with and she was going through her own stuff aswell but as time went on they all understood the super vamps better;

They just keep getting easier and easier to kill. I have to shake my head every time I watch it.

Someone just said a theory that could be true. They said maybe the first made the original turok-han stronger like he did to Caleb.

The first could posses Caleb and give him super stregnth so perhaps he did that to the first Turok-han. Though if that's the case I wish they had metioned it in the show, because I was quite confused when I saw people like Dawn beating something that could take on Buffy.

I don't think the explination that she was distracted and unprepared makes sense. First of all being prepared doesn't make you stronger. People like Dawn and Xander knowing how strong the uber vamps were doesn't make them any more physically able to beat them.

Secondly Buffy being distracted does make her fight worse but it definetly doesn't lower her to the level of Xander and Dawn. It changes how well she fights and how much she puts into the blows but the fact is she isn't only better than Xander and Dawn because she is a better fighter, she is better because she has super stregnth among other things. Distraction can't make her as physically weak as them.

We know how hard it is to even bruise Buffy given her slayer stregnth and look at her in that pic. Being less ready and distracted doesn't acount for that. It should have been adressed in the show.

Still, I just tell myself that the first made the original Turok han stronger to intimidate or kill Buffy.

I'd say, when it was only one uber-vamp, the first could concentrate all its power on one instead of ...alot ubervamps, so this one was much more powerful than the other ones. Or it was just some bad air down there in the hellmouth and the ubervamps weakened with time ;)
