Buffy the Vampire Slayer Did you get the meaning of Buffy singing 'what can't we face' in the musical (that it wasn't about them being so good, but about her finding it all so mundane and dull)?

I bet I'm the only one who didn't get that!!! Things like that always go over my head. It all seemed so obvious once Joss said it. We already knew that was how she felt, so I don't know how I missed it. I'm so dumb, I thought she was just lying or something (which they can't really do in the songs can they? like I said, dumb)

fanfly picked Yep, right away:
Her disillusionment during that song is clear to me, but she managed to fool the Scoobies into thinking she was being confident not jaded. That's the great thing about those lyrics- what she's singing is true to her mental state(which is very depressed and jaded), but it can be interpreted two different ways and obviously the Scoobies took it to mean something positive.

Not sarcastically, she was saying 'apocalypse, we've all been there' and 'why should we care'. So it's like we've done this all before, it's boring why should I care about what's going on. She meant what she said, but what she was saying was 'I don't care about what's going on' It wasn't about how close they are and how good they are, it was about her apathy. But as it can be taken either way, the scoobies didn't realise.

And neither did I :) when I heard Joss explain i was like 'oooooooooooooooh, I see'

Lol, spikes_girl you're not dumb, I didn't get it till I heard Joss explain. He explained it far better than I'm managing to.

One of the lines of the song is "why should we care?" she's not being sarcastic, it's just that the song can be interpreted either way and the scoobies missed her meaning. The first thing she sings is "I've got a theory it doesn't matter." that's what the whole song is about, that none of this matters to her.
