I love Dawn, Yeah she annoyed people at times but her character was great :]

same as nataliejade Dawn is awesum! and i loved her teen scenes i can kinda relate seeing as i am a teen

I think it would have been harder for the writers to fit her into later seasons if she had been a lot younger and I just can't see how they would have done it, Buffy would have had to properly turn in to Dawns mum when Joyce died if Dawn had been much younger!
I just can't see how it would have worked (but I'm sure they would have made it)! She was kinda annoying yes but I think she would have been more so if she was younger!

I think she was supposed to be about 10 originally. Oh and I should say, I don't hate Dawn, the thing about her being whiny was a joke :) I actually almost picked no but i'd of liked to see how the scoobies would interact with a young character and how a young character would cope with buffy's line of work.

I'm sure Joss would have made it work as he is above mortal weaknesses such as mistakes and the lure of cupcakes, but I think making Dawn younger would have taken away her ability to be the one who sometimes sees something the others miss (mainly in reference to Spike).

I would like to see the scoobies have to deal with a younger kid too. it would have been interesting to see how a younger dawn would have dealt with life as a slayer's sister, we never really got to see a kid try to deal with sunnydale. I dont think the show needed another teenager, teen agnst had all been covered, a kid's perspective would've been more fresh.

I added the new option ('to see how the scoobies would deal with a kid') as I felt this pick came off way more anti-Dawn than I meant it to (couldn't resist that whiny joke)

I actually think dawn's character was ok, the reason I'd have prefered a younger dawn was basically what bellona said. The show had covered the teen agnst angle already and a kid's view would have been more fresh. Plus I feel they sometimes wrote Dawn as younger than she was.
