There was never said what happened to them, so fans have to create their own story about that. As a huge Bangel fan and believer their love was the only true love they both ever had, I think Buffy kept them both safe and remembered how much they mean to her, Angel and their love story. She didn't wear them anymore because they weren't together anymore, but indeed connection between them and love for each other stayed with them forever. I don't know if SMG kept those stuff in private but I know its common that many times stars keep/ take the stuff they were wearing or using on the set of a series or movie they starred in. I really hope she took them :)

The claddagh ring disappeared when Angel returned from Acathla Hell. I don't think we know what happened to the cross necklace.
