Books to Read Question

So I need a new book to read.

I'm looking for true crime mainly but if you don't know any please recommend one that is fantasy, action, or mystery.
I'll even take books from other genres as well of you find them exceptionally good. Thank you.

Skulduggery Pleasant is a book series set in Ireland about a skeleton detective and his teenage sidekick. It's a teenage book with magic and creatures such as vampires and dark gods called the Faceless Ones. They are really funny and brilliant, especially if you like fantasy, action and mystery :)

I love Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta series. They are fiction, but based on all her acknowledgements, there has to be more than just a kernel of truth to them. I think there are 19 books in the series; the more recent ones are better.

Kathy Reich's books are good too, and she is a forensic pathologist for her day job, so you know what she writes about is based on reality.

Kay Scarpetta is a lawyer and a forensic pathologist. She is married to a guy who was once head of the Behaviorial Science Unit in the FBI. Her niece, Lucy, is a computer/techie genius. I think by the most recent books, they have formed their own consulting firm, but don't hold me to that. Her books are heavy on forensic technique, but never boring. There is a lot of history among the characters, but you definitely don't need to read from the beginning. I think Cornwell is good at summarizing enough so that you can pick up any of her books and pretty much enjoy them. I think the most recent one is Red Mist, but again I'm not certain. She tends to come out with a new book each year. Usually there is a bizarro crime which involves state of the art forensics to figure it out. Cornwell assures the reader that as astounding as the techniques may be, they are for real. Hope this helps--I know I didn't really get into any individual plot.

There's a new book out called "Dark Magic". It has mystery, fantasy and suspense! it's really amazing. The plot centers around a young magician named Peter who can also see the future. He sees a vision of times square being destroyed by an evil warlock who works for a secret group that was responsible for the deaths of Peter's parents. Trust me you'll love it. I must tell you though that there is some pretty grusome occult things that might be too extreme.

I have some favorite mystery series that are enjoyable. I like the Sheriff Joanna Brady mystery series that are pretty good. She is a sheriff in Arizona. I also liked Sue Grafton's ABC series and Janet Evanovich's Number series. Sue Grafton's character is a PI named Kinsey Millhone and Janet's character is a character named Stephanie Plum who is a bounty hunter. I think you'll enjoy these.

If you want a crime story, i would definitely recommend the Maltese Falcon. It's a classic crime novel and after you are done reading it, you can watch the movie. The movie was done in black and white.
