Biggerstaff Family Question

HELP!

So I'm running for the Sophomore class Secretary, and I need a good speech.

I am, by no stretch of the imagination popular enough to get elected without one.
I need HELP!!!
All ideas are appreciated, thanks!

Lol, my guy friend once got school captain, and his speech started with "HIBBERY JIBBERY" to get everyone's attention.

So you might want to start with something interesting...

My advice is:

-Humour

-Don't weigh yourself down with information. It's good to put the details in your speech, but if you have too much, people stop caring.

-EYE CONTACT. I cannot stress this enough!

-Be honest. Don't make really unlikely promises. People hate the feeling that they are being lied to. So don't do it.

-No over-complication. Know your audience. If they are smart, don't treat them as idiots. But if they are idiots, then don't make it too complex for them.

I hope this helps. I won a mock election in my English class using these rules, so I probably know what I'm talking about. :)

Humor is good, but you have to know your audience right. If you're presenting to a bunch of n00bs, you might have to make annoying pop culture reference jokes.

Rhetorical questions are a very efficient form of speaking (I had to do a whole section of learning on speeches, and my teech said they worked well). Make sure to throw some of those in there, maybe even repeat a few, but with different context each time, because repitiation is another good thing to use.

If all else fails, just watch a famous speech online and print out the text and see how that person wrote theirs. Lol, I'm not a fantastic giver of information on speeches, but I hope this helped. :)
