Biggerstaff Family Question

Favourite book? And why?

I have many favoruites, so I can't pick just one, but if I had to pick like 2-3, they'd be Eragon by Christopher Paolini, Harry Potter (duh), and...Sunshine by _(I forget the authoress)__(which is a really old book that most people haven't heard of :P Which is a shame since it's awesome!)

I love Lord of the Rings or anything by Tolkien

He made countries, languages, histories, family trees, etc. His creativity was brilliant and when you read the books, it feels like you're reading the history of some world. It's just so reasonable.
Most books don't explain how things came to be, but he created a history explaning how the world came to be, the people, the wars, etc.

He put 60 years into it and he STILL wasn't finished.

*sigh* amazing

Very very true. I have yet to get into his books yet, but I probably will do soon :)

Hmm, Lord of the Rings is boring me. :\ But maybe that's because I was reading another book at the same time, and found it more interesting. I'll get back to LOTR now, though :P

The Cider House Rules by John Irving

Irving is a terrific writer. He always grabs subjects that are considered taboos or sacret cows at the very least and writer books about them that really make you think. He does his research very diligently which is something that I really apprediate. The Cider House Rules is about the question of abortion, and that book, if any, really makes you think about it.

Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
Who can write more beautifully than Nabokov? I dare you to present somebody. He might just be one of the best authors of all time. And his capability to portray the psychological motives of his characters is one-of-a-kind.

That's all I can think about at the moment :)

I love this series, it keeps you thinking about what's going to happen, who will survive, etc. Katniss is an excellent character whose history intrigues you.
The Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
I love them! (Yes, I finished reading them :P) It's about the world in the future, and there's an operation which you take when you're 16 which turns you pretty. Tally Youngblood, the main character, is waiting impatiently for her turn, but her best friend Shay something doesn't want to turn pretty. And... yeah. Stuff happens. :P
Black Beauty by Anna Sewell
Horses. Nuff said. So this book is about a horse's life... Really interesting :D
