sometimes war is necessary in order to protect a nation. what were we supposed to do after Pearl Harbor? just sit there and wait for the next fleet of Japanese planes to fly over our major cities? war is a terrible thing and should be avoided when ever possible, but sometimes, when the safty of the nation and the nation's citizens are at risk, action has to be taken.

again, i hate these questions. i do not know anyone who is "pro war." i agree completely with @heartsheal sometimes its necessary to protect and defend because other people are going to attack you. but suggesting you are "pro war" implies that you want war and are for it. last time i checked that constitutes people such as hitler and genghis khan.

therefore, sometimes war is necessary. killing an unborn child is not. the baby is not risking a million citizens lives and if it is threatening yours, then shouldnt you make the unselfish choice of giving your life for your kid instead of letting yourself live?

In a perfect world countries would sit at a table and resolve their differences over a cup of tea. But sadly that's not how it works.
I am by no means "pro-war". I hate war and what it does to countries and to individual families and people. But war can have just causes; according to St. Thomas Aquinas, war can be considered just under these terms (collectively called the "Just War Theory"):
-the reason for going to war must be just (for instance, not going to war simply to exterminate a certain race)
-only constituted public authorities may wage war
-intent is good (for example, correcting a wrong is a good intention, gaining material goods is not)
-in self-defense (heartsheal4 provided an example of that- the attack on Pearl Harbor)
-as a last resort- any other means of trying to resolve the conflict prove ineffective
-must be a chance of success (cannot resort to arms if the cause is futile)
-use of arms must not bring about greater damage and evil than the evil intended to be eliminated
All Christians are pro-life (if you consider yourself a pro-choice Christian, you are not really Christian), but you don't necessarily have to be against war. Christians can still support war, as long as it's just.
