You know, before I watched Ferngully, I had no idea what they did to animal in those labs. I was ok with the concept of animal testing. I have been since I was 12. But now I'm 16 and we watched the Ferngully in biology class. First thought, "This movie is lame!" I thought what everyone else thought. That is until the movie introduced us to Batty Koda, voiced by Robin Williams as I found out later on. He made no sense to me at first. I thought he was just some weird character. Especially when he sang his rap song. I didn't think anything of it. Class ended, school let out for the summer, that was the end of it. Yet something strange happened. I don't what compelled me to do this and I don't understand it, but a few days later I found myself thinking of that bat from Ferngully. So, I got in YouTube and looked up his rap song, not knowing why. I listened to it once. Then twice. No, three times I watched that video in one day! After listening to it over and over again, I finally got what it was talking about; animal testing. I then proceeded to get on Google and look up some of the stuff they do to animals while going through testing (including what a vivisection was). And what I found horrified me! I'm a huge animal lover, and before Batty I had no idea of the things they did to animals. And I don't know why, he's just a cartoon character, but I felt bad for. I thought, "he must if suffered a lot" what with the stuff he talked about in his rap. I knew a change needed to be made. Batty Koda inspired me to put an end to animal testing. And that is exactly what I'm going to do. On Change.org I gave made a petition titled "Put an End to Animal Experimentation!" As of now, the petition had 96 supporters. But that's not enough. We need more help. We need to make the change to treat animals with as much humanity as we would our fellow beings. We need to end their suffering. Or are we going to be one of those humans that are "numb from the brain down"? Be inspired and make the change for the better!
