I am extremely harsh and critical about anime. There are only a handful I actually consider "good".

If they don't have a certain aspect that I like, then I don't like it

It's just hard getting me to start watching an anime, let alone make me like it. Honestly, the two things that make me want to watch an anime is good-sensed humor and the voice actors (not going to lie, I'll sometimes look up characters that Kaji-kun and Okamoto-san have voiced and then watch the first episode of that anime)

Understandable. Most standard shounen, shoujo, and seinen anime are exact copies of each other at this point, so it's very rare for me to find something even remotely original or thought-provoking. I never watch anime "just for fun". I watch it for psychedelic, philosophical experiences that require a brain to analyze in order for their morals to be fully understood. I rate most new anime a 4/10 or less, and I never give something a perfect score, as nothing is perfect. However, I can enjoy a show, such as SAO, without it being any good. I just won't rate it high.

There're only a few series I can say I adore and I put them on a pedestal, but generally I just watch anime to have a good time. I've come to a point in my life where I've realized something that puts a smile on my face is just as important as something thought-provoking. So no, I don't expect anything grand, I just want something to make me happy.

I hear that a lot, and it makes perfect sense. For some reason, the only thing that can make me happy is what I consider thought-provoking XD

Sometimes I can have high expectations for a show if it’s by a studio or director I’m fond of but generally I don’t. These days I just watch whatever~
