Usually the plot, when I first saw the new anime going around Cells at Work, the plot about cells and the unique idea what got me interested.

Sometimes the art style or a character. I never pay attention to popularity or positive feedback because your average anime fan wouldn't know quality if it kicked them in the ass. I completely agree about Cells at Work.
