I am really curious to see what the out come of this will be.

I don't watch many Shoujo series nor do many spark my interest.
Mecha is a cheesy, over the top genre that probably deserves all the hate it gets but it's the fact that it's such a cheesy genre that makes me love it. So bad that it's good is probably the dynamic I can compare my love for the genre to, if that makes sense.

Ugh....this is difficult.
While I do love Mecha...Shoujo is just slightly higher on my list~ There's a few more Shoujo anime I like than Mecha, but I do still love both genres.

Gurren Lagann is all I really need to see from the mecha genre to put it above any Shoujo I've come across. ¬¬

I haven't watched many mecha series, though I don't watch Shoujo all the time either. I guess I find shoujo more enjoyable to watch, even though I prefer shounen. I can get pretty indecisive when it comes to anime genres. >.<

The genre is general considering it has a demographic that it attracts. Still find it hard to believe that it got lost to that accursed mecha.

Well considering I don't recall ever reading or watching a shoujo on par with TTGL or Code Geass, I don't see why it's hard to imagine that it beat it. ¬¬

So we have closet mecha fans and if something is more talked about, other genres can be shoved to the side in favor of the more popular ones. Still not seeing how it's hard to imagine the better genre, from my experience, losing a popularity poll. ¬¬

Here's the t: somebody's a little too desperate to save the Mecha genre. For it to survive the genre countdown this far, somebody's obviously doing "something". After seeing the fishy results of the 7th round of the countdown, I rest my case.

Looking at it and then the following results, it does seem iffy but minus that little conjecture, you don't really have anything to go on. And tbh, people could be doing that with a spare alt or two to the mecha genre but it's been shown that ain't enough, less to go on than your theory but still just as possible going by how mecha isn't apparently liked here. ¬¬

It's as you say, it's a conjecture of mine but I firmly stand by it and I find it silly how someone desperately tries to save it as if the poll's that big of a deal. It's the reason why I don't take that poll seriously.

I agree its silly if people take anything here seriously but it's something I'm not that bothered with seeing, even if it's against the thing I want to win. Meh I already hold quite a bit of disdain for this club anyway ¬¬

that's a tough call. neither of them are genres i normally watch, though i certainly do watch them from time to time. i probably end up watching more shojo than mecha.

Really enjoy both genres but I like Shoujo more overall since I have to pick one.

I seriously doubt someone is "desperately" trying to save mecha on a silly poll. It seems much more likely that all the mecha haters are the ones who frequent fanpop more often, so they get to the poll first. Then as other people go on, mecha loses the lead. Besides Gurren Laagan is talked about a bit. I don't really hear about it on here, but Tenchi is also a very popular mecha. There's also Gundam, full metal panic, etc... So I really don't find it hard to believe that mecha could last as long as it did. Although I'm sure it will get booted off soon.

I actually enjoyed watching Mecha anime. I hate Shoujou anime.

@Dewheart: See one of my comments in the 7th round poll. I lack evidence but I'm pretty much assured that somebody's truly trying to let the genre stay. That and if you've observed how the recent poll results came to be specifically how another genre managed to beat Mecha in the last few hours of the poll's availability, you'd know what I mean.

I really enjoy watching both genre's, but I do like more Shoujo anime than I do Mecha.

I don't enjoy Mecha at all. Shoujo isn't my favorite, either, but I at least find it enjoyable.
